Manchester, N.H. ? For the third straight year, Saint Anselm College has led all of Division II in fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, raising over $4,000 for the organization. The college's Student-Athletic Advisory Committee, along with associate director of athletics Donna Guimont, organized a number of events throughout the year to raise funds and support one of the top charities in the nation. Make-A-Wish is an organization that helps realize the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.
"We are honored to be able to support an outstanding organization in Make-A-Wish," said Guimont. "Our student-athletes and in particular our Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), should be proud of themselves for this achievement."
Saint Anselm raises funds through community outreach projects involving the college's intercollegiate athletic teams, through the sale of t-shirts at home athletic events, and through annual event's such as Kid's Night Out.
The Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committees raised over $114,000, surpassing their goal of $100,000 and leading all NCAA Divisions. The Northeast-10 Conference led all Division II conferences also, with contributions totaling over $15,000. The Make-A-Wish Foundation recognizes NCAA Division II as one of its fundraising advocates for 2006.
