Gary Mello ‘01 – Cross Country - Bentley
Mello was the Northeast-10 men’s cross country champion in
2000 (26:00), 1999 (26:48) and 1998 (26:39) becoming the first
runner in conference history to “three-peat.”
He was an individual qualifier for NCAA Div. II Championships as a
sophomore in 1998 (course record 32:31), and as a junior in 1999
(31:05).
Mello was also a NCAA Div. II Northeast Regional champion as a
senior in 2000 (31:47). He finished sixth in New Englands as
a sophomore (24:24) and became Bentley’s first-ever NCAA Div.
II cross country All-America with a 17th place finish in 1998
Mello earned All-America honors for a second-team with a 22nd-place
finish in 2000 (32:31.9).
