Franklin Pierce Claims Top Seed in Upcoming Baseball Championship
South Easton, Mass. – Franklin Pierce University claimed the
top seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Baseball Championship after
winning its third NE-10 Regular Season Title in four years.
Franklin Pierce finished conference play with a 24-6 record to
receive the top seed and will serve as championship host for the
double elimination portion of the championship. Assumption College
(30-17-1, 20-9-1 NE-10) earned the second seed in the championship
after finishing NE-10 play with a 20-9-1 record. Both Franklin
Pierce and Assumption will receive first round byes and will
automatically advance to the next round.
Southern Connecticut State University (25-19, 20-10 NE-10) earned
the third seed in the championship, followed by Bentley University
(28-21, 19-11 NE-10) as the fourth seed. The University of New
Haven (20-19, 16-14 NE-10) is fifth, while the University of
Massachusetts Lowell (24-19, 15-15 NE-10) round out the
championship field as the sixth seed.
First-Round games begin Wednesday, May 6 and include #6 UMass
Lowell at #3 Southern Connecticut, while #5 New Haven will travel
to #4 Bentley. Both first-round contests are set for 3 p.m.
The championship continues on Friday, May 8 at Franklin Pierce
with the winner of New Haven/Bentley facing #1 Franklin Pierce at 4
p.m., while the winner of UMass Lowell/Southern Connecticut will
face #2 Assumption at 7 p.m.
Day two action of the double-elimination portion of the
championship consists of three games on Saturday, May 9, beginning
at 11 a.m., followed by a 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. contest. The
championship concludes on Sunday, May 10 with a 12 p.m. game and
will be followed by a 3 p.m. game if necessary.
