Alumni Spotlight - Cliff Gelb '70, Men's Basketball
Cliff Gelb attended Pace University as a double major in history and education, while playing men?s basketball. Upon graduation he taught for over six years, before switching careers, making the move to television where he used his passion for news and sports. He got his start at WNEW-TV (now the Fox Station WNYW-TV). Then in 1979, he moved to WCBS Channel 2 where he would go on to produce sports for over 22 years with legends such as Warner Wolf, Len Berman, and other top broadcasters and sports Hall of Famers.

Pace Athletics Finalizes Partnership with Stretch Internet
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace University Department of Athletics has finalized a partnership with Stretch Internet, a video streaming company out of Mesa, Arizona, which specializes in high quality video streaming. Pace will utilize Stretch Internet for all web streamed events on campus and can be viewed on www.pacesettersathletics.com. All games will be viewed in high definition and will be a free service available to all fans. Fans will also be able to enjoy a live scoreboard and follow comments via twitter through the Stretch Internet platform. The first web stream utilizing Stretch Internet will take place on September 13 in day one of the Pace Volleyball ?Setters Fall Classic? featuring teams from across the country. The Pace Football home opener against American International College on September 21 will be the first football game utilizing both Stretch Internet and the audio broadcast from WFAS AM 1230, the official radio station of Pace University Athletics.

Pace Goes Pink Campaign A Success in 2012-13
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace chapter of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) in partnership with College?s Against Cancer(CAC) had a banner year in 2012-13 with the second annual ?Pace Goes Pink? campaign raising money for a local breast cancer organization. This year the campaign raised money for the Northern Westchester Hospital Breast Institute located in Mt. Kisco, NY. By promoting the ?Pace Goes Pink? campaign at five Pace Athletics sporting events on campus throughout the 2012-13 school year a total of $1,666.52 was raised for the organization.

Baseball Lands Trio on NCAA East Region All-Tournament Team
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace baseball team had three players named to the NCAA East Region All-Tournament Team as senior Brandon Martineson (Prospect, KY/Warwick) and Bobby Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) along with junior Jon Kovel (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) garnered top honors. The Setters were selected as the #5 seed to the NCAA Division II Tournament in the East Region for their appearance in the D2 Tournament since 1985. Pace defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas in the opening round 3-0 before falling in their next two games.

Baseball Finishes Season With Loss to Franklin Pierce Day on Three of NCAA East Regional
MANCHESTER, N.H.- The Pace Baseball team fell in an elimination game to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University 8-1 on day three of the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The Setters finish their 2013 season at 33-17 overall, their second highest win total in school history (34 wins - 2006). The Ravens improve to 34-17 and will face host Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday night.

Tamburino Tosses Complete Game But Setters Fall To Penmen on Day Two of NCAA Regional
MANCHESTER, N.H.- Michael Tamburino (Baldwin, NY/Holy Trinity) tossed a complete game but the Setters came up short to the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University 3-2 on Day 2 of the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The Setters fall to 33-16 overall and will face Franklin Pierce in the 11 am game on Saturday, May 18. The Penmen improve to 35-17 on the season.

Scioscia Named to CoSIDA District 1 All-Academic Team
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- William Scioscia (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America District I All-Academic Team in the At-Large category. Scioscia led the Pace lacrosse team with 31 goals this season, while posting a 3.42 GPA as a Criminal Justice major in the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences.

MANCHESTER, N.H.- Jonathan Chudy (Goshen, NY/Goshen) tossed a complete game shutout as the Setters took the win over Saint Thomas Aquinas College 3-0 in the First Round of the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The Setters advance in the winners? bracket to face the winner of the Southern New Hampshire-New Haven game on Friday, May 17 at 7 pm at Penmen Field. Pace improved their 2013 record to 33-15 overall.

The Pace University women's soccer team is pleased to announce the 2013 recruiting class - a dynamic group of eight student-athletes. Baseball Earns At-Large Bid To The NCAA Division II Tournament
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - The Pace University Baseball team received an at-large bid as the #5 seed to the 2013 NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament. This marks the first trip to the NCAA?s under Head Coach Henry Manning and only Pace?s second appearance in the DII Tournament with their last trip coming in 1985. The Setters will take on #2 seed St. Thomas Aquinas in the first round of the double-elimination tournament which will take place at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.

Pace Student-Athletes Participate in Thank-A-Thon
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- As the end of the school year approaches with spring sports playing games, finals and graduation for seniors, Pace student-athletes took time from their end of the semester activities to thank the many athletics donors for their contributions throughout the year. Pace Athletics had 85 student-athletes participate in the ?Thank-A-Thon? with more than 275 personal notes being written to contributors to their teams and the department. Setters Club donors and sponsors have contributed more than $200,000 to Pace Athletics efforts this year, contributing to scholarships, team sports, the general athletics fund, and capital projects.

Pace Football Coaches Lend a Hand for Study Now-Play Later Event
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Head Football Coach Chris Dapolito and members of his coaching staff participated in the Study Now-Play Later activity as they volunteered their time at Dunlevy Milbank Center in Harlem. The Study Now-Play Later program is designed to provide a supportive, social atmosphere to increase self-esteem. Additionally, emphasis is placed on the importance of the relationship between academics and athletics by providing a stimulating and rewarding environment for all participants.

Baseball Alum Mackenzie King ’11 Signs with Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.? Baseball alum Mackenzie King ?11 (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren) has signed on to play with the RedHawks of Fargo-Moorhead of the American Association of the Independent Professional Baseball League. King pitched for the Setters from 2007-11 and graduated as the all-time leader in strikeouts in Pace history with 221.

The four alumni are Gene Westmoreland ?65 (Baseball, Men?s Basketball, Golf, Cross Country ? Hall of Fame Inductee 1999) and his wife Col. Mary Westmoreland ?67 (Cheerleading ? Dyson College Distinguished Achievement Award), T.J. McDonald ?85 (Baseball ? Hall of Fame Inductee 1997), and Brian Finnerty ?72 (Baseball ? Hall of Fame Inductee 2013).

Pace Baseball Holds Steady at #4 in NCAA East Region Poll
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace University baseball team held steady at the #4 spot in this week?s NCAA East Region poll. The top-6 teams will be selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Tournament that starts May 16. The tournament is comprised of the winner of the three conference tournament champions in the East Region that include the Northeast-10, East Coast Conference and Central Atlantic Athletic Conference along with three at-large teams.

Zach Dayton '09, '11 Selected as 914Inc. Magazine's Wunderkinds for 2013
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions Zach Dayton, '09, '11, has been selected as a Wunderkind for 2013 by 914Inc. Magazine. Dayton has been at Pace University for the past two years in his current role after prior serving as the Marketing and Promotions Director for two years. He was also a four-year member of the Pace Baseball team from 2006-09. The 914Inc. Magazine Wunderkind program recognizes the top impact professionals under age 30 in Westchester County.

Northeast-10 Names Four Players to Baseball All-Conference Teams
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Coaches selected four players to the All-Conference teams as junior designated hitter James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton), senior outfielder Charlie Galasso (West Harrison, NY/Harrison), senior outfielder Brandon Martineson (Prospect, KY/Warwick) and freshman outfielder Michael Viegas (Staten Island, NY / Monsignor Farrell) garnered top honors. Pjura was named to the First Team, Galasso to the Second Team, Martineson to the Third Team, while Viegas was named to the All-Rookie Team.

Baseball Falls to Le Moyne In NE-10 First Round
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Setters fell to the Dolphins of Le Moyne College 7-4 in the First Round of the Northeast-10 Championship. Pace, ranked #4 in the most recent NCAA East Region poll, falls to 32-15 overall, while Le Moyne improve to 24-22 and advanced to the NE-10 Championship Final Four.

Famed Coach Pat Kennedy Tabbed to Lead Pace Men’s Basketball Program
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Pace University Director of Athletics Mark Brown has announced that former Florida State University and Iona College Head Coach Pat Kennedy will join the Pace Athletics Department as the Head Coach for the Men?s Basketball program. Kennedy returns home to Westchester County where he started as an assistant coach with the Gaels under legendary coach Jim Valvano and has deep roots in the New York City Metropolitan region.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace University Athletics Department held their annual Student Athlete Awards Banquet on Saturday night at the Goldstein Fitness Center. Pace honored its graduating seniors and also recognized their top athletes during the ceremony. The top award of the night was the Darrell Halloran Memorial Letterwinner of the Year, which was awarded to senior volleyball player Elyse Rowland (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) and women?s basketball grad Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane).

Baseball Sweeps Southern Connecticut; Will Host NE-10 Championship First Round on Tuesday
NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Setters swept a doubleheader from the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University, taking the opener 2-1 and completing the sweep 10-5 in the nightcap. Pace finishes the regular season at 32-14 and 15-6 in the NE-10 Southwest Division, clinching the #2 seed and will host the First Round of the Northeast-10 Championship on Tuesday, May 7 at Finnerty Field at 2 pm. The Owls finish their season at 20-21-1 overall and 6-15 in division play.
