Northeast-10 Announces Spring Sportsmanship

South Easton, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference has
announced the recipients of its spring 2007 Sportsmanship Awards.
The awards program, which honors one team from each of the
conference’s 23 championship sports that has exemplified the
spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducted themselves with a
higher degree of integrity, character and class. The awards were
decided upon by a vote of each of the conference’s teams head
coach, team captain and Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
representative in their respective sports.
Bryant University, Saint Anselm College and Saint Michael’s
College each received two sportsmanship awards for the spring
season. Bryant has been awarded the 2006-07 Northeast-10
Sportsmanship Awards in the sports of Baseball and Men’s
Outdoor Track & Field, while Saint Anselm was the recipient of
the Sportsmanship Awards in Men’s Lacrosse and Men’s
Tennis. Saint Michael’s earned the Sportsmanship Awards for
Men’s Golf and Women’s Tennis.
American International College received the Sportsmanship Award in
the sport of Women’s Lacrosse and Bentley College was awarded
the Sportsmanship Award for Softball. Stonehill College was the
recipient of the Women’s Outdoor Track & Field
Sportsmanship Award.
The Northeast-10 awards one team from its 23 championship sports
with a ‘Team Sportsmanship Award’ at the end of each
season’s championship segment. This award is presented to the
team that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and
generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity,
character and class.
In June, one of the 15 conference institutions will receive the
‘Northeast-10 Institution of the Year Sportsmanship
Award’ by the conference Senior Women Administrator (SWA)
council. In addition,
Webster Bank will make a donation annually to the institutional
award winner’s Boys & Girls Club in the name of the
school.
Sponsoring 23 championship sports and 15 full-time members, the
Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic
conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any
Division II conference.
