Adelphi Officially Becomes Member of the Northeast-10

South Easton, Mass. – Northeast-10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert is proud to officially welcome Adelphi University into the Northeast-10. Today, as the calendar year rolls over into July, Adelphi formally becomes a member of the Northeast-10. Adelphi was offered and accepted membership in December, 2007.

The Panthers will field teams in 20 of the 23 NE-10 sports. They are as follows: baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s golf, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer, softball, men’s swimming, women’s swimming, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s track & field, women’s track & field and women’s volleyball. Additionally, Adelphi sponsors men’s soccer which competes at the Division I level.

Adelphi finished the 2008-2009 academic year as a member of the East Coast Conference. The Panthers will enter the NE-10 as the defending NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse National Champions.

With the addition of Adelphi the Northeast-10 now has 16 member institutions, which is the most among Division II along with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC).

With 16 member institutions the Northeast-10 shares the distinction of being the largest Division II conference in the country along with the PSAC and WVIAC. Its 23 championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500 student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II conference.
