Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Bill Hite, Southern Connecticut (So., DH, Shelton, CT) - Batted .385 (10-26) with a double, a triple, and a homerun in a 6-1 week. Drove in nine runs in seven games. Slugged .615 and added two walks for a .429 on-base percentage. Went 5-for-8 (HR) in a sweep of Assumption. Had a three-run triple, which broke a scoreless tie in a win over regionally-ranked Stonehill. Hit in all seven games.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Arric Mather, Franklin Pierce (Jr., SP, Danville, NH) - Fired a one-hit shutout to lead the Ravens to a 3-0 win at Southern New Hampshire. Struck out ten and walked just one over the nine innings. Yielded a one-out single in the first, and then held the Penmen hitless the rest of the way, allowing just two base runners over the final eight innings.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Matt Giusti, Stonehill (Fr., SP, Hopkinton, MA) – Fired a complete-game three-hit shutout with five strikeouts in a 5-0 win over UMass Lowell. Faced five batters over minimum in collecting victory.
Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll:
Rory Ahern, Assumption (So., SP, Shrewsbury, MA) - Pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits and struck out one, to earn a game two victory over Bryant.
Chris Dupay, Bentley (So., SP, Scotia, NY) - Pitched a five-hit shutout a 3-0 season ending win at Southern New Hampshire. Did not issue a walk, struck out six, allowed only one runner past first base and retired 11 straight at one stretch.
Chris Neil, Bryant (Jr., OF, Cambridge, MA) - Hit .500 (6-12) in four games last week knocking in four runs and also scoring one. Had a double, a triple and a sacrifice last week. Went 2-for-4 (R, RBI) in a win against Pace. Went 2-for-3 (2 RBI) in a win against Assumption.
Nick Tucarella, Bryant (Sr., C, Salem, NH) – Hit .615 (8-13) in four games last week, including two RBI and three runs. Totaled three doubles, a sacrifice bunt, and a sacrifice fly. Went 4-for-4 (3 R) in a win against Assumption. Also went 3-for-4 (RBI) against Pace.
Scott Savastano, Franklin Pierce (Fr., 3B, Plymouth, MA) - Hit a team-leading .500 (4-8) with a double, stolen base and two RBI in a 2-0 week. Slugged .625 and posted a .556 on-base percentage for the week. Was 2-for-4 (2 B, 2 RBI) in a win at Saint Rose. Batted 2-for-4 (SB) in win at Southern New Hampshire.
Bobby Theriault, UMass Lowell (Sr., 3B, Lowell, MA) - Batted .500 (5-10) with one run, a double and a walk in a 2-1 week. Highlighted the week with a 3-for-4 effort in a 3-2 victory at Stonehill, as well as a 1-for-3 clip (R, 2B) in a 3-1 win over Stonehill.
David Qualben, Pace (Jr, SP, Brooklyn, NY) - Threw eight shutout innings in a 10-0 win over American International. Held AIC to two hits while walking one and hitting another as only one of four runners to reach base advanced as far as second base. Matched his season and team-high strikeout total of 14.
Jerod Edmondson, Saint Anselm (Sr., 1B, Johnson City, NY) - Hit .562 (9-16) over four games with two stolen bases and two runs scored. Went a combined 6-for-9 in a doubleheader against Merrimack with two steals.
Ryan Williams, Saint Anselm (Jr., SP, Lynnfield, MA) - Struck out eight, walked one and allowed one earned run on five hits in a complete game win over Merrimack.
Jose Ortiz, Jr., Southern Connecticut (Jr., 3B, Waterbury, CT) - Hit a team-best .423 (11-26) with three doubles for a .538 slugging percentage in a 6-1 week. Scored five runs and drove in four. Walked six times for a .531 on-base percentage. Struck out only once in 32 plate appearances.
Jared Rohrig, Southern Connecticut (Sr., RP, Milford, CT) - In three appearances, struck out seven of the 16 batters he faced. Allowed no runs on one hit in 4 1/3 innings (.071 OBA), and earned two saves. Finished both ends of a sweep versus Assumption, pitching two shutout innings in Game 1, then striking out the last batter of the eighth inning with the tying run on third base in Game 2 before working the ninth for a save.
Jim Fuller, Southern New Hampshire (Fr., SP, Marlboro, MA) - Worked seven innings, allowed no runs and just four hits, and struck out four in a 5-1 win over Bentley in his only appearance of the week.
Billy Sittig, Stonehill (Sr., SP, West Roxbury, MA) - Tossed complete-game six hitter and fanned seven in a 4-1 win over Southern Connecticut, allowing an unearned run.

FRANKLIN PIERCE: Franklin Pierce, ranked 12th in last week's Collegiate Baseball magazine poll and 15th in the NCBWA's national ranking, clinched its first Northeast-10 Conference regular season title with a pair of wins last week. The Ravens are winners of 11-straight (one shy of the program record), 18 of 19 and 23 of 25 entering the postseason. Franklin Pierce begins defense of its NE-10 Tournament title on Friday. The Ravens reached the 40-win plateau for the first time in program history. Senior All-American Bryan Duplissie (East Swanzey, N.H.) collected his 100th hit at Franklin Pierce recently and stands just two RBI shy of the program's single-season record of 57. Senior Tyler Cummings (South Paris, Maine) collected his 25th career win at Saint Rose on Friday evening…STONEHILL: Stonehill, ranked fifth in NCAA Northeast Regional play last week, posted its highest conference regular season finish in six seasons in earning second place and a bye in the league playoffs. The Skyhawks have posted their highest overall win total in three years and highest Northeast-10 victory total in six seasons. Freshman P Matt Giusti (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate shutout with a complete-game three-hit triumph over UMass Lowell that clinched second place, as Stonehill has recorded six shutouts as a staff this spring. Senior P Billy Sittig (West Roxbury, Mass.) raised his school record career strikeout mark to 285 by fanning seven in Thursday's win over Southern Connecticut. The Skyhawks have qualified for the Northeast-10 playoffs in each of Head Coach Patrick Boen's nine seasons at the helm…SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Southern has won 30+ games for the third consecutive season and the fifth time in the last six years. Senior C/IF Joe Pagan recorded his 100th career base hit in Game 1 on Sunday against Saint Rose. Sophomore DH Bill Hite had three at-bats all season, and six for his career, when he was inserted into the starting line-up for Game 2 vs. Saint Anselm on April 29. Since then he is riding an eight-game hitting streak, during which he is hitting .379 (11-29) with nine RBI. Hite hit his first collegiate homerun vs. Assumption on Saturday. Sophomore P Dan Stone earned a win in his first collegiate start vs. Saint Rose on Sunday. Stone had a 2-1 record in relief in 2005. Mike Connors picked up his first career save with three innings of hitless relief in that game. Jose Ortiz, the Northeast-10's second-leading hitter, kept his batting average over .400 with an 11 for 26 week. He is hitting .415 with one regular-season game remaining. Southern has one game left in a regular-season ending stretch of seven games in five days caused by a series of rainouts; the Owls are 5-1 in that time heading into Monday's trip to Pace…UMASS LOWELL: UMass Lowell is enjoying its best season since 2002 when it posted a 35-18 clip en route to its second straight appearance in the Division II College World Series. Junior reliever Pat Donovan (Lowell, MA) eclipsed the school record for saves in a season with his 12th Sunday in UML's 3-1 win over Stonehill. Donovan surpassed the previous mark of 11 set last year by current junior Ronnie Nelson (Shrewsbury, MA). UML, seeded No. 4 in the 2006 NE-10 Tournament, will host No. 5 Bryant Wednesday at a time to be determined in the first round. UML and Bryant split during the regular season as the Bulldogs won 3-0 in Lowell on Apr. 25 while UML exacted revenge in Smithfield (6-1) two days later…PACE: The 2006 Pace University baseball team became the 2nd team in University history to win 30 games with a 4-3 win over Bryant on May 5, 2006. The previous team to win 30 games was the 1985 team, led by former head coach Fred Calaicone, which finished the year at 30-8. The Setters would break the single season win mark with a 4-1 win over American International College on May 6, 2006 and currently stand at 33-17. Junior left-handed pitcher David Qualben (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) passed teammate Matt Reilly to become the career leader in strikeouts at Pace. Qualben struck out 14 batters in an 8-inning outing in which the Yellow Jackets were held to two hits in a 10-0 Pace victory. He now has 196 career strikeouts in three seasons. Earl Oakes (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern)pitched the final inning in the win, striking out two. The 16 strikeouts were the most by a Pace pitching staff in a game this season...BRYANT: Senior Paul Novakowski recorded his 200th career hit on Sunday (Senior Day) in the third inning of a 7-3 win over Assumption. He finished the season leading the team in RBI with 28 and six homeruns...SAINT ANSELM: Ryan Williams threw a single-season school-record seventh complete game of the year on Friday as the Hawks' staff tied the single-season school record with their 20th complete game of the year. Williams added to his school single-season strikeout record, having fanned 90 on the season. The Hawks will make their fourth straight Northeast-10 Conference tournament appearance on Wednesday…SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Penmen recorded their first 20-win season since 1995. Senior Casey O'Brien (Newmarket, NH) closed out his four-year career ranked first in career ERA (3.04) and third in career strikeouts among SNHU's all-time leaders. Freshman Jim Fuller (Marlboro, MA) allowed one run or less in six of his seven starts this season and closed out the year as the team-leader in ERA (1.11) and strikeouts (62)…ASSUMPTION: Assumption concluded its 2006 campaign with a doubleheader split over Bryant on Sunday.. Assumption's relievers did not allow a run in 6.1 innings in four games last week (5 appearances, 6.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 4 K, 2 BB, S).
