The Ravens will face NYCAC Tournament champion Dowling College in opening round action Thursday (Time TBA). The Ravens are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance overall. Three seniors, Tyler Cummings (South Paris, Maine), Bryan Duplissie (East Swanzey, N.H.) and Elliot Shea (Jaffrey, N.H.) have earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I College Division first team, announced last week. Junior shortstop Garrett Olson (Norway, Maine) was named NE-10 Player of the Year on Monday, marking the third-straight year a Raven has collected the award. Olson joins teammate Bryan Duplissie (2005) and former All-American Eric Cavers (2004) as NE-10 Players of the Year. Third baseman Scott Savastano (Plymouth, N.H.) is the first Franklin Pierce player to earn NE-10 Freshman of the Year plaudits. Boen, who previously won the honor back-to-back in 1999 and 2000, is the sixth different Stonehill coach to be named as a Northeast-10 Coach of the Year during the 2005-2006 academic year, joining Karen Boen (men's cross country), David McLaughlin (men's basketball), Scott Harlow (ice hockey), Pam Arpe (women's tennis) and Michael Daly (women's lacrosse). Senior P Billy Sittig (West Roxbury, Mass.) closed out his career with a school record 286 strikeouts and was one of five Skyhawks to earn all-conference accolades for their performances this spring. Sittig, a three-time first-team selection, was joined by senior OF Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) and junior OF Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.), who were both named to the second team, as well as senior 1B Sean Lawrence (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and junior 2B Tom Aldrich (New Canaan, Conn.) who each earned third team honors?SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Southern senior LHP Jeff Farrell tossed his fifth career shutout in Wednesday's play-in game victory over Saint Anselm.
