Northeast-10 Co-Players of the Week
Elliott Shea, Franklin Pierce (Sr., OF, Jaffrey, NH) - In a 5-1 week, hit .458 (11-24) with eight runs scored, five doubles, a triple, three stolen bases (on as many attempts) and nine RBI. Also slugged .704 and posted a .484 on-base percentage for the week. Went 5-for-6 (4 2B, 5 RBI) in a win versus Merrimack. Was 1-for-3 (2 R, RBI) in win over UMass Lowell. Hit a combined 4-for-9 (2B, 3B, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2 SB) in doubleheader sweep of Bentley.
Steve Paddock, UMass Lowell (Jr., OF, Milford, MA) - Batted .471 (8-17) and slugged .941 with seven RBI, four runs, two triples, two doubles and a home run in a 3-1 week. Opened the week going 2-for-4 (3 RBI) in a 5-2 win over Franklin Pierce. Followed by a 1-for-5 showing (2 R, HR) in a 13-5 loss at Franklin Pierce. In a doubleheader sweep over Merrimack, went a combined 5-for-8 (3 RBI, 2 R, 2 3B, 2 2B) in 6-3 and 10-2 victories.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Cummings, Franklin Pierce (Sr., SP, South Paris, ME) - Was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 12 strikeouts and just one walk in 15.0 innings of work over two starts last week. Yielded just six hits, holding opponents to a .118 average. Allowed an unearned run while scattering four hits and had a season-high eight strikeouts to collect a win at Merrimack. Scattered two hits over seven shutout innings with four strikeouts in a win at Bentley.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Scott Savastano, Franklin Pierce (Fr., 3B, Plymouth, MA) - In a 5-1 week, hit a team-best .458 (11-24) with a home run, four runs scored, four RBI and four stolen bases (on as many attempts). Also slugged .583 and posted a .500 on-base percentage for the week. Went 2-for-4 (SB, 2 RBI) in win at Merrimack and 4-for-4 (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB) in win over UMass Lowell. Was a combined 4-for-8 (R, SB) in doubleheader sweep of Bentley.
Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll:
Dan Sargent, Assumption (So., SP, Lowell, MA) - Pitched a complete game victory over Saint Rose. Allowed five hits, a run (unearned), and a walk while striking out four.
Brett Fistes, Bentley (Fr., SP, South Deerfield, MA) - Went eight and two-thirds scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory over Pace. Allowed six hits and three walks while striking out two.
Pat Donovan, UMass Lowell (Jr., RP, Lowell, MA) - Earned two saves in victories over Franklin Pierce (5-2) and Merrimack (6-3). Against Franklin Pierce, allowed two hits and a walk while striking out two in two innings. In the win against Merrimack, allowed one hit while striking out one in 1 2/3 innings.
Patrick Wilson, UMass Lowell (Jr., 1B, Dracut, MA) - Batted .429 (6-14) with five runs, three walks and two RBI in a 3-1 week. Highlighted the week with a 2-for-3 effort (2 R, RBI) in a 5-2 win over Franklin Pierce. Also went 2-for-4 (R) in a 10-2 victory over Merrimack.
Mike Lanciani, Merrimack (Sr., SP, Andover, MA) -Tossed a complete-game, five-hit shutout against Assumption last week. He allowed two walks and struck out four.
Rick Sotiropoulos, Merrimack (Jr., OF, Ipswich, MA) - Batted .458 (11-24) with six runs scored and three RBI last week. - Rank: 1
Adam Hussey, Saint Anselm (So., 2B, Manchester, NH) - Went 6-for-15 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base over four games. Scored the winning run in the 10th-inning against Southern New Hampshire.
Ryan Williams, Saint Anselm (Jr., SP, Lynnfield, MA) - In a complete game shutout win against AIC, allowed zero runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking none.
Brendon Malkowski, Saint Rose (Fr., SP, Guilderland, NY) - Scattered eight hits, shutout host Southern New Hampshire throughout the final 8.0 innings, fanned seven and did not allowed an earned run in a 4-1 complete-game victory. Retired 11 batters in order at one point.
Nick Panza, Saint Rose (Sr., 3B, Albany, NY) - Batted .889 (8-9) with five RBI and three runs scored in three games during a 3-1 week. Was successful in all six of his stolen base attempts. Reached base five times by going 2-for-2 (R, RBI, 3 BB, 3 SB) in a win at Southern New Hampshire. Went 4-for-4 (R, RBI, 3 SB) in the first game of a doubleheader versus AIC and 2-for-3 (3 RBI, R, 2 B) in the nightcap with the Yellow Jackets.
Jose Ortiz, Southern Connecticut (Jr., 3B, Waterbury, CT) - Batted .600 (6-10) with two doubles (.800 SLUG) in a 2-1 week for the Owls. Posted three multi-hit games. Scored four runs and drove in three. Also drew three walks for a .692 on-base percentage. Struck out just once in 13 plate appearances. Handled 20 errorless chances playing two games at third base and one game at first base. Twice drove in tie-breaking runs during an eventual 5-2 win over Southern New Hampshire.
Joe Breen, Stonehill (Sr., SP, Swampscott, MA) - Pitched 10 2/3 scoreless innings and held opponents to .111 batting average in a pair of contests during 5-0 week, including a complete-game four-hitter with six strikeouts in a 1-0 triumph over Bryant. Retired all five batters faced to pick up a save in a 4-3 win at Pace.
Coley Lyons, Stonehill (Sr., OF, West Roxbury, MA) - Batted .353 (6-17) with double, triple and three RBI in 5-0 week, including a two-run game winning single in a 5-4 triumph at Bryant and a game winning RBI single in a 4-3 win at Pace. Handled all 13 chances in field without error while recording a .529 slugging percentage and a .476 on-base percentage.

STONEHILL: Stonehill, winners of seven straight and nine of its last 10 outings, has posted a 17-5 (.773) mark in NCAA Northeast Regional play to date. Since April 1st, the Skyhawks have posted a 1.19 team earned run average as a staff, going 9-1 and allowing just 62 hits and 12 earned runs in 91 innings with 66 strikeouts. Last Tuesday's shutout win over Bryant was Stonehill's third straight blanking, as the Skyhawks had allowed just one run over a 36-inning stretch before last Wednesday's contest with the Bulldogs. Senior P Brian Nelson (Greenville, R.I.) saw his consecutive scoreless innings streak end at 20 straight in Saturday's first game triumph at Pace, while fellow senior P Billy Sittig (West Roxbury, Mass.) recorded his 250th career strikeout in Wednesday's win at Bryant?UMASS LOWELL: Junior 1B Patrick Wilson (Dracut, MA) extended his hitting streak to 25 games in this week's 3-1 week. Wilson has hit safely in all but one game this season. Junior LF Steve Paddock (Milford, MA) is currently nursing an eight-game hitting streak?FRANKLIN PIERCE: The Ravens, ranked 22nd in last week's Collegiate Baseball poll and 18th in the NCBWA's Top 25, have won four-straight and nine of ten. Senior Tyler Cummings (South Paris, Maine) became Franklin Pierce's career victory leader when he notched his 21st career win on Monday at Merrimack. Senior Elliott Shea (Jaffrey, N.H.) matched the program's single-game hit record with five at Merrimack on Monday, including a program-record four doubles in the win. Junior Arric Mather (Danville, N.H.) struck out a career-best 14 Merrimack batters on Wednesday. Senior Mike Chambers (Londonderry, N.H.) became the fourth member of the program's 200-hit club on Saturday, senior Randy Fenton (Worcester, Mass.) became the 14th player in program history with 100 career hits at Bentley on Saturday?SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Southern Connecticut is 20-3 against regional opponents, including 11-0 in non-conference/in-region games. Southern has won 20+ games for the sixth consecutive season. Junior 1B Nick Czekaj, the Owls' third-leading hitter at .357, has missed his team's last three games after suffering an ankle injury while trying to avoid a tag on 4/9. Southern started three different first-basemen last week -- reserve Mo Davidson, regular C/DH Joe Pagan, and regular 3B Jose Ortiz. Jose Ortiz is hitting .560 (14-25) during his current six-game hitting streak with five multiple hit games, beginning with a 5-for-5 performance in Game 2 vs. UML on 4/6. Freshman SS Michael Diaz had a nine-game hitting streak snapped by Assumption on Wednesday. He is hitting .361 in his last 11 games?PACE: Pace senior Matt Reilly (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) became the career leader in strikeouts at Pace University with a 6th inning K against Stonehill on Saturday, April 15, 2006. Reilly enter the game in 3rd place all-time, trailing Willie Espinal's (1986-89) 166 K's, with 161. With a 12-strikeout performance against Stonehill, Reilly currently sits in 1st place with 173 career strikeouts. Teammate David Qualben (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier)is currently 3rd all-time with 162 career strikeouts. Qualben struck out eight against Adelphi on Friday, April 14, 2006?SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Penmen have already posted 17 wins this season (17-13), which ranks as the most wins in a season since 1998 and leaves the team just five wins shy of establishing a new program-record for wins in a season. The 1994 team posted a record 21 wins (21-16)?BENTLEY: When Bentley posted back-to-back shutouts vs. Merrimack Apr. 9 and Pace on Tuesday, it marked the first time since 1991 that Falcon pitchers had blanked consecutive opponents?ASSUMPTION: Assumption is 2-1 in their newly remodeled H.L. Rocheleau Field and will have four games this week at home to try and improve that mark. Freshman pitcher/third baseman Jeff Barbale (Charlton, MA/St. Peter-Marian) hit a three-run inside-the-park homerun last Monday against Saint Rose. The home run, the first since Eric Tridenti '01 (North Andover, MA) smacked one at Saint Anselm (April 4, 1998), broke a 1-1 deadlock in the 8th inning?SAINT ROSE: Saint Rose has won three straight for the first time this season. Sophomore right-hander Jeremiah St. Louis (Tupper Lake, NY) is holding opposing hitters to a .207 batting average. He has given up only nine extra-base hits. Freshman right-hander Brendon Malkowski (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) has fanned 50 and walked only 15 throughout 49.2 innings of work. Freshman center fielder Daniel Felitte (Delmar, NY) owns an 11-game hit streak, the longest for a Saint Rose player this season. He has batted .405 (15-for-37) with a .563 ob% during that stretch. Senior infielder Nick Panza (Albany, NY) is batting .410 (16-for-39) with nine RBI, 11 stolen bases and a .558 ob% throughout his last 12 games?
