Manchester, N.H. (August 7, 2006) - Barry Rosen has been named as the Saint Anselm baseball head coach, announced Ed Cannon, director of athletics.
"We are excited to have someone with Barry's experience involved with the Saint Anselm baseball program," said Cannon. "His knowledge, experience with the conference and his record of success will help keep the program on the right track and help us to contend for an NCAA Tournament berth each season."
Rosen brings 36 years of coaching experience to the Hilltop, including 16 at the collegiate level. Most recently an assistant coach at Brandeis University since 2003, Rosen served as the head coach at Merrimack College from 1992-2003. At Merrimack, his teams captured six regular-season conference championships, two conference tournament titles, one ECAC Championship and competed in two NCAA Regionals. He coached six players that went on to play professionally, six All-Region performers and four All-Americans.
Prior to Merrimack, Rosen was a long-time head coach at Winthrop High School in Winthrop, Mass., from 1976-1992. He is involved in a number of professional organizations, including serving for 10 years on the executive board of the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association. Rosen is a member of the executive board of the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association and is a past president of that organization as well. An instructor at a number of camps in Massachusetts, Rosen has also had his writing published in the ABCA Coaches Digest.
In addition to his baseball duties, Rosen has been a high school science teacher since 1972, including a 32-year career at Winthrop High School. He is currently a chemistry teacher at Westford Academy in Westford, Mass., a position he has held since 2004. He is a 1972 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry.
