Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Tom Haugh, Bentley (Sr., 1B, Andover, MA) – Hit .435 (10-23)
with nine RBI, three runs scored, three doubles and one homer in a
5-2 week. Slugged .696 and had a .462 on base percentage. Was
6-for-9 with runners in scoring position, including 2-for-2 with
bases loaded.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Mike Adams, Franklin Pierce (So., SP, Orchard Park, NY) - Posted a
2-0 record and 0.68 ERA in a 5-2 week. Struck out ten and walked
just one while yielding an earned run in 13.1 innings. Picked up a
win with 5.2 innings of four-hit shutout relief, striking out six,
at Southern New Hampshire. Allowed an earned run while scattering
four hits with four strikeouts over 7.2 innings to earn win in game
one of doubleheader at UMass Lowell.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Taylor Ferugson, Bryant (Fr., OF, Charlton, MA) - Had eight hits in
19 at-bats (.421), including three doubles, nine RBI, and three
runs with a .579 slugging percentage. Also stole four bases in four
attempts.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Michael Colebrook, Assumption (Fr., SP, Leicester, MA) - Threw a
complete game five-hit shutout against American International,
striking out seven and walking just one.
Brian Quaglieri, Assumption (Jr., OF, Shrewsbury, MA) - Hit .360
(9-for-25, 7 R, 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI) and slugged .640 (16 TB) in a 4-3
week. In a two-game series against American International, went
3-for-7 with 2 RBI, a double, and three runs. In a three-game set
with Saint Rose, went 6-for-13 with three RBI, two home runs (all
in game two), and four runs. His second home run in game two versus
Saint Rose was his 100th career hit.
Dan Lozeau, Bryant (So., SP, Pelham, NH) - Took a no-hitter into
the ninth inning in a 9-0 victory over Merrimack. Hurled a complete
game-shutout, while striking out five and allowing just two
hits.
Tom Cote, Franklin Pierce (So., SP, Swanzey, NH) - Tossed a one-hit
shutout with nine strikeouts in a rain-shortened five-inning 3-0
victory at American International.
Kevin Rivers, Franklin Pierce (Fr., OF, Bristol, CT) – Hit
.400 (10-for-25, 5R, 3-2B,
2-3B, 2RBI) and slugged .680 with a .444 on-base percentage in a
5-2 week. Hit 3-for-4 with a double and three runs in the win at
Southern New Hampshire. Was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, run
scored and RBI in a win over Stonehill. Batted 2-for-2 with a
double and RBI in rain-shortened win at American International.
Peter Nickerson, UMass Lowell (Sr., SP, Dracut, MA) - Threw a
complete game, three-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory over Franklin
Pierce. Struck out three and allowed just two of seven base runners
to reach second base.
Patrick Wilson, UMass Lowell (Sr., OF, Dracut, MA) – Hit .444
(8-for-13) with three runs and three RBI this past week. Was
3-for-3 with two RBI and a run in a 5-1 win at Saint Anselm. Went
1-for-3 with two runs in a 5-0 win versus Saint Anselm. Had two
hits and an RBI in the 5-1 win at Franklin Pierce.
Joe Barracato, Pace (Jr., OF, Westbury, NY) - Batted .455
(10-for-22) with nine runs, two RBI, a double and eight stolen
bases in a 5-2 week. In a win over Adelphi, went 2-for-2 with three
runs scored and three stolen bases. In a win over Saint Thomas
Aquinas, went 1-for-3, scored twice and stole two bases. In a
three-game sweep over Merrimack, went 3-for-9 with two runs scored,
an RBI, a double and a stolen base. Against Saint Anselm, collected
three hits in five at-bats with two runs scored and RBI and a pair
of stolen bases.
Jack Cawley, Pace (Jr., OF, Bronx, NY) - Batted .483 (14-for-29)
with six runs, three RBI, four doubles and nine stolen bases in a
5-2 week. Against Bentley, went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of
stolen bases. In a win over Adelphi, scored two runs and stole a
base. In a win over Saint Thomas Aquinas, collected two hits in
five at-bats, driving in and scoring a run, while stealing two
bases and hitting a double. In a three-game sweep of Merrimack,
went 7-for-12 with two RBI, a double and three steals. Against
Saint Anselm, went 2-for-5 with a double, scored a run and stole a
base.
Zach Dayton, Pace (So., SP, North Falmouth, MA) - In two starts,
went 1-1, tossing 14.1 innings, without allowing an earned run,
while striking out 14 and giving up seven hits. Against Bentley,
pitched seven innings allowing four hits and one unearned run,
while fanning eight in a 1-0 loss. In a win over Merrimack, hurled
7.1 innings giving up three hits and one unearned run, while
fanning six.
Mike Diaz, Southern Connecticut (So., SS, Monroe, CT) –
Batted .476 (7 RBI, 6 R, 3-2B, 2SB) in a 3-3 week. Was 3-for-4 in
game two versus Southern New Hampshire.
Greg Lyons, Southern New Hampshire (So., SP, Canton, MA) - Started
two games (15.1 IP) and posted a 1-1 record and a 2.93 ERA with 14
strikeouts in a 3-4 week. Held opponents to a .175 batting average
and issued just one walk. Tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout
with nine strikeouts in a 2-0 win over Southern Connecticut.
Adam Pardo, Stonehill (Sr., 3B, Hanover, MA) - Batted .455 (10-22)
with a double, eight RBI and five stolen bases in 3-2 week. Had
three hits and the game winning RBI in a 1-0 win over Saint Anselm.
Collected three hits and drove in four runs in a doubleheader sweep
of Saint Anselm and added three hits and three RBI in a pair of
contests against Franklin Pierce.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Brian Fioretti has tied the Bentley
single season record for games started (11) and is just 5.1 innings
shy of the record for innings pitched (87.1). Jarrod Marchesi has
appeared in 16 games, tying the Bentley season record. Tom Haugh
has broken his own single season records for putouts and total
chances in a season, and Steve Gath has done the same to the assist
record.
STONEHILL: Sunday's 1-0 victory over Saint Anselm came in
the shortest game time in Stonehill history, as the Skyhawks and
Hawks played the contest in an hour and 35 minutes. Senior P Chris
Herrmann (Chelmsford, Mass.) has struck out 28 batters in his last
24 2/3 innings of work, averaging 10.21 strikeouts per nine innings
over that time span.
