Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Karl Derbacher, Southern Connecticut (Jr., OF, Northford, Conn.) -
Hit .636 (7-for-11) over a 4-0 weekend with two doubles, a triple,
six runs scored, five RBI, five walks, a hit by pitch, eight stolen
bases and a .765 on-base percentage.
Northeast-10 Co-Pitchers of the Week
Kevin Vieira, Pace (So., SP, Trumbull, Conn.) - Tossed a complete
game seven inning five-hit shutout, picking up the win in a 3-0
victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas. Struck out 11 and walked two in
the game.
Nick Carlucci, Southern Connecticut (Sr., SP, Franklin, Mass.) -
Threw eight shutout innings, gave up four hits, issued no walks,
hit a batter and struck out 10 to pick up the victory in a 7-0 win
over Assumption.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Tim Rines, Southern New Hampshire (Fr., SS, Northfield, N.H.) -
Batted .700 (7-10) with four RBI in a pair of games. Went 5-for-6
in with three RBI and two doubles against Molloy. Was 2-for-4 with
a RBI against Dowling.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Kevin Cobb, Bryant (Jr., RHP, Acton, Mass.) – Pitched seven
innings, picking up the win in a 12-3 victory over Saint Rose.
Allowed only four hits and didn’t allow an earned run. Struck
out eight while walking two to pick up the victory.
Dan Lozeau, Bryant (Jr., RHP, Fairhaven, Mass.) – Pitched 7.2
innings against Bloomfield without surrendering an earned run.
Scattered five hits and struck out one without allowing a walk.
Dylan Stone, Bryant (So., INF, Portsmouth, R.I.) – Batted
.444 (4-9) in a 3-0 week. Scored three runs, walked three times and
stole a base in the process. Reached base in 7-of-12 trips to the
plate and recorded the game-winning RBI single in the 15th innings
in a 3-2 victory over Bloomfield.
Mike Adams, Franklin Pierce (Jr., SP, Orchard Park, N.Y.) - Allowed
just an earned run on three hits with ten strikeouts and no walks
in a season-opening win at Wilmington (Del.) in a nine-inning
complete game effort.
Kevin Renaud, Franklin Pierce (Sr., OF, Southbridge, Mass.) - Hit a
combined 4-for-7 (.571) with two doubles, six RBI, two runs scored
and five stolen bases in a doubleheader sweep of Wilmington (Del.).
Was 3-for-4 with two doubles, five RBI and three steals in the 9-1
win in game one. Hit 1-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and two
steals in 6-1 win in nightcap.
Kyle Vazquez, Franklin Pierce (So., SP, Berlin, Conn.) - Scattered
four hits over five scoreless innings of work to earn the win on
the mound in game two of the doubleheader sweep of Wilmington
(Del.). Struck out six and walked none over the five innings of
work in the seven-inning contest.
Mike Andre, Merrimack (Jr., 3B, Medford, Mass.) - Led the Warriors
over the weekend with six hits, including a double, in 14
at-bats.
Joe Cotone, Pace (Jr., 2B, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) - Batted .400
(6-for-15) with a double and two triples in a 3-1 weekend against
Saint Thomas Aquinas. Scored four runs and an RBI in the four-game
series.
Ryan Gargan, Saint Anselm (Sr., 1B, Byfield, Mass.) - In two games
played, went a combined 4-for-7 (.571) with four RBI and a solo
homerun.
Ed Bethke, Southern Connecticut (So., SP, Branford, Conn.) - Threw
eight shutout innings, gave up six hits, walked nobody and struck
out nine to earn the win in a 17-3 victory over Assumption.
Mike Diaz, Southern Connecticut (Jr., SS, Monroe, Conn.) - Hit .625
(10-for-16) in a 4-0 weekend with two doubles, two triples, six
runs, six RBI, a walk, two hit by pitches, three stolen bases and a
.765 on-base percentage.
Anthony Fiorillo, Southern Connecticut (Sr., DH, New Haven, Conn.)
- Hit .636 (7-for-11) in a 4-0 week with a triple, four runs
scored, five RBI, three walks, a stolen base and a .714 on-base
percentage.
Scott Strong, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., OF, Naperville, Ill.) -
Batted .500 (4-8) in a pair of games while also scoring four runs.
Went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in a loss to
Dowling.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Franklin Pierce, picked to finish
as national runners-up by Baseball America, is ranked fifth in last
week's pingbaseball.com Division II poll and sixth in the
Collegiate Baseball magazine rankings. Senior centerfielder Kevin
Renaud (Southbridge, Mass.) has hit safely in 17-straight games
dating back to last year with hits in both games of the Ravens
doubleheader sweep of Wilmington (Del.) on Sunday.
