Northeast-10 Player and Freshman of the Week
Ryan Geffert, Southern Connecticut (Fr., 1B, Plymouth, Pa.) -
Batted .500 in three games with a homerun, three doubles, one
triple and 10 RBI. Went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a grand slam and
seven RBI versus Assumption.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Kyle Vazquez, Franklin Pierce (Jr., SP, Berlin, Conn.) - Pitched
eight shutout innings in his only appearance of the week, a win
over Merrimack. Allowed just four hits in 27 at-bats against (.148
opponents' batting average), walked one and struck out 10.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Dillon Fontaine, American International (So., SP, Amenia, N.Y.) -
Allowed three runs, one earned, and struck out five in a complete
game 6-3 win over Stonehill. In the same game, batted leadoff and
went 2-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Overall batted
.308 (4-13) with three runs scored for the week.
Mike Baillargeon, Assumption (Sr., 2B, Worcester, Mass.) - In a
2-0 week, led the team hitting a .667 average. Had six hits and
scored six runs. Had three extra base hits; two doubles and a home
run and two RBI.
Chris Dupay, Bentley (Gr., SP, Scotia, N.Y.) - Pitched the first
7.1 innings in a 2-1 11-inning victory at UMass-Lowell. Allowed
four hits, two walks and one unearned run while striking out
seven.
Mike Dowd, Franklin Pierce (Fr., C, East Bridgewater, Mass.) - Hit
.364 (8-for-22) in five games last week. Had one double, drove in
three runs and scored three times. Posted a .409 slugging
percentage and a .364 on-base percentage.
Ted Lerud, Franklin Pierce (Sr., OF, Hampden, Mass.) - Hit .526
(10-for-19) over five games in a 4-1 week. Had two doubles and a
home run, drove in four runs, scored six times and stole three
bases. Slugged .789 and posted a .526 on-base percentage.
Sean Burns, UMass Lowell (So., OF, Colchester, Vt.) - Hit .600
this past week. Went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in a
win vs. Mercy and had three hits at Bryant.
Ted Haley, UMass Lowell (So., SP, Cranston, R.I.) - Did not figure
into the decision, but pitched nine innings of three-hit baseball
versus Bentley. Allowed just one run on three hits and struck out
11 over the nine innings of work.
Jeff Bercume, Merrimack (Sr., OF, Leicester, Mass.) - Batted .300
with five steals and 4 RBI in five games this past week. Picked up
his 200th career hit against Southern New Hampshire.
Kyle Bombace, New Haven (Sr., SS, North Branford, Conn.) - Hit
.467 in four games with six RBI and four runs scored. Went 4-for-6
with four runs scored, three walks and an RBI in two games against
Saint Rose and went 2-for-4 with three RBI against Pace.
Andre Liscinsky, Pace (Sr., SS, Trumbull, Conn.) - Batted .400
(8-for-20) with a double and four RBI in five games. In a two game
split against Southern New Hampshire, went 4-for-9 with a double,
two RBI and two runs scored. Went 4-for-5 in a win over Adelphi
with a double and two RBI.
Ryan Burke, Saint Rose (So., SS, Troy, N.Y.) - Batted .700 behind
a 7-for-10 effort at the plate throughout a 2-1 week. Slugged .900,
drove in three runs, scored two and belted a pair of doubles as
well. Finished 2-for-3 with a run, RBI double and stolen base in a
6-3 win at New Haven. Was also 2-for-3 with a run and RBI single in
a 14-0 triumph versus St. Joseph's (VT). Finally, finished 3-for-4
with a double and RBI in an 11-8 setback versus New Haven.
Ryan Quinn, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., SP, Lebanon, Conn.) -
Allowed two runs while striking out 14 in a complete-game victory
over Pace. Matched career high in strikeouts while scattering eight
hits and walking just two.
Tim Rines, Southern New Hampshire (So., SS, Merrimack, N.H.) -
Batted .545 (6-11) with five runs scored in a 3-1 week. Recorded a
.688 on-base percentage with three walks and a pair of hit by
pitches. Went 2-for-2 with three walks in a win over Merrimack.
Weekly Notes:
MERRIMACK: Jeff Bercume became the second player in
school history to tally 200 career hits, with a single against
Southern New Hampshire Wednesday. Bercume is 16 hits shy of the
school record of 221 hits for a career set by Brian Macrina in
1999.
