American International's Yi Shines in NECBL

DANBURY, Conn. - Uchon Yi (Windsor Locks, Conn.) of the American International College baseball team has been a standout for the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) this summer.

Yi, who will be a sophomore pitcher this upcoming season for the Yellow Jackets, has made four starts for the Westerners and is 2-0 with a 1.25 earned run average. In 21.2 innings pitched, Yi has allowed 17 hits and held opponents to a .230 batting average. In his most recent outing July 15 against the North Adams Steeplecats, Yi hurled a complete game six-hitter, striking out three and walking two in a 4-0 win.

Through July 19, Danbury sits in third place in the NECBL's Southern Division, 2.5 games back of league-leading Manchester.
