Northeast-10 Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week

Herbert Woodard, Assumption (Fr., RB, Salem, N.J.) - Rushed 21 times for 277 yards (13.2 yards/carry) and tied a school record with five touchdowns, all in the first half, at Saint Anselm. Had touchdown runs of 70, 30, 2, 50, and 39 yards. Amassed 208 yards at the end of the first quarter with four touchdowns.

Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week

Scott Miller, Bentley (Sr., DL, Reading, Mass.) - Finished Bentley's 48-23 win over American International with five tackles, two sacks (-8 yards) and two fumble recoveries, the second of which he forced as well. Both fumble recoveries led to Falcon scores (one TD, one FG).

Weekly Honor Roll:

John White, Bentley (Jr., QB, Kingston, Mass.) - In a 48-23 win over American International, was 23 of 36 for 256 yards and two touchdowns (6, 14 yards), with no interceptions. Also rushed for a touchdown and rushed for 36 yards in eight carries. Had 292 yards of total offense and led Bentley to a score on seven of the eight drives he was in the game.

Tyler McNamara, Bentley (So., K, Medway, Mass.) - Stayed perfect on the season by kicking two 34-yard field goals and six point afters for a total of 12 points in the 48-23 win over American International.

John Studley, Bentley (Jr., WR, Peabody, Mass.) - Caught eight passes, all before halftime, for 93 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 22 yards.

Dan Curci, Bryant (Jr., LB, Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) - Had 11 total tackles and a forced fumble in the win over Merrimack. Eight of the 11 tackles were solo stops.

Lindsey Gamble, Bryant (So., RB, Roxbury, Mass.) - Rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns in the 37-34 win over Merrimack. Averaged 6.8 yards on 26 carries. Had a 12-yard touchdown run in the first overtime, which proved to be the game winner.

Charlie Granatell, Bryant (Sr., QB, Franklin Lakes, N.J.) - Completed 16 of 31 passes for 199 yards in the win over Merrimack. Threw for three touchdowns in leading Bryant to the come-from-behind win.

Mike Young, Merrimack (So., RB, Norwood, Mass.) – Rushed for 255 yards on 37 carries and scored two touchdowns in a 37-34 OT loss to Bryant.

Matt Cooney, Pace (Sr., WR, East Rockaway, N.Y.) - Caught eight passes for 61 yards. Averaged 43 yards on five punt attempts, including landing two inside the opponent's 20-yard-line.

Jerom Freeman, Southern Connecticut (So., RB, Peekskill, N.Y.) - Rushed 31 times for 149 yards and scored three touchdowns in the loss to Central Connecticut State. Also tallied 178 all-purpose yards.

J.J. Niamkey, Stonehill (Sr., WR, Quincy, Mass.) - Caught two passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the 23-0 victory over Pace. Also had two tackles and a fumble recovery.


Weekly Notes:

ASSUMPTION: Freshman running back Herbert Woodard is the third player in Greyhounds' history to score five touchdowns (and 30 points) in a single game (the first to do it one half) following Fran DeFalco '95 at UMass Lowell (11/6/93) (all rushing) and Kevin Clive vs. Sacred Heart (9/4/99). His 277 rushing yards are the third most in program history. Woodard had 208 rushing yards and four touchdowns at the end of the first quarter. His 277 yards of all-purpose offense is the ninth-best total in Hounds' history. Senior kicker Jon Eisele (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) was 7-for-7 on point after attempts, tying the Hounds' record held by Tim Longden '03 vs. UMass Lowell (11/4/00).

BRYANT:
Friday's win by Bryant over Merrimack was the 21st for Bryant coach Marty Fine, tying the school record for number of coaching wins at the school. The win also marked the first time Bryant has started a season 2-0 since its first varsity season in 1999.

MERRIMACK: Sophomore running back Mike Young tied a school record with 255 rushing yards Friday against Bryant.
