Northeast-10 Offensive Player of the Week

Steve Armstrong, Southern Connecticut (Jr., QB, Nutley, N.J.) - Finished 19-of-23 for 363 yards and matched a school-record with six touchdown passes in a 54-14 win over Saint Anselm. Completed 19 straight passes at one point during the contest.

Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week

Tayrance Smith, C.W. Post (So., LB, Brooklyn, N.Y.) - Broke up a pass, made nine tackles including six solos, and grabbed two interceptions for 80 yards including a 40-yard touchdown return in the win over Merrimack.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Herb Woodard, Assumption (Fr., RB , Salem, N.J.) - Carried 30 times for 152 yards and a four-yard touchdown in a season-finale win over Pace.

Weekly Honor Roll:

Calvin Hall, American International (Sr., RB, Rochester, N.Y.) - Carried the ball 14 times for 48 yards and scored two of the team’s three rushing touchdowns in a 35-10 victory at Stonehill.

Mike Duffy, Bentley (So., LB, Plymouth, Mass.) - Had 15 tackles, including 11 solo stops and four for losses (-6 yards) in a 29-3 loss at Bryant. Also had two QB hurries.

Paul Tetzel, Bentley (Sr., S, Millbury, Mass.) - Finished with 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for losses, one sack, one QB hurry and a 24.3 kickoff return average (three returns) in a 29-3 loss at Bryant.

Charlie Granatell, Bryant (Sr., QB, Franklin Lakes, N.J.) - Completed 15 of 23 passes for 202 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes in the 29-3 win over Bentley. Had touchdown passes of eight and 39 yards in the game.

Jay Stahl, Bryant (Sr., DL, Methuen, Mass.) - Recorded six tackles, including four solo tackles in the win over Bentley. Had 2.5 tackles for a loss and had a pair of sacks in the game, including a sack in the end zone resulting in a team safety in the third quarter.

Anthoney Adamic, C.W. Post (So., RB, Selden, N.Y.) - Rushed for 268 yards and three touchdowns on 43 carries in the win over Merrimack.

Jamel Ramsay, C.W. Post (Sr., CB, Elmont, N.Y.) - Forced, recovered, and returned a fumble for 68 yards and a touchdown in the win over Merrimack. Also made five solo tackles.

Chris Bergeski, Southern Connecticut (Jr., WR, Mountainside, N.J.) - Finished with six catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Saint Anselm. Caught a 72-yard pass that set up a late first half touchdown.

Johnny Lee, Southern Connecticut (Jr., WR, Norwalk, Conn.) - Caught seven passes for 144 yards along with a touchdown in the win over Saint Anselm.

Jeffery Payne, Stonehill (Jr., RB, West Haven, Conn.) – Ran for 162 yards on 27 carries. Scored a touchdown on an 11 yard run in the first quarter during the loss to American International.

Weekly Notes:

ASSUMPTION: Sophomore wide receiver David Canney (Templeton, Mass.) became the first Hound with 60 receptions in a single season and finished with a team-record 870 yards--eclipsing the team record, set during the club years, by John McKeon in 1976 (854). In addition, senior wide receiver Jake Beers (Duxbury, Mass.) became the second with two 50-reception seasons and the first with back-to-back seasons with 50. Beers and Canney are the most prolific duo in a single season in Hounds' history with 112 receptions for 1,529 yards breaking the old mark of 93 set by Billy DeMalia (43) and Eric Mauer (50) in 2000. Beers with 159 receptions for 1,950 is second only to Eric Mauer '01, who finished with 2,166. Junior safety Chris Martino (Lincroft, N.J.) and senior/captain defensive end Jared Kelly (Canton, Mass.) each eclipsed the 200-career tackle mark in the season-finale win over Pace. Martino’s three tackles against Pace gave him exactly 100 initial contacts and 100 assists for 200 tackles and Kelly finished his career with 92-113—205. Junior quarterback Taylor Humphrey (Lafayette, Calif.) completed a record 170 passes in 320 attempts (second most to Chad Carges' 305 in 2000) for 2,204 yards as the first Greyhound to pass for over 2,000 yards in a season. His .531 completion percentage is the third best in Hounds' history and is the first with over 2,000 yards of total offense (2,256) yards. Senior placekicker Jon Eisele (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) now holds the record for points in a season for a placekicker (45).

BENTLEY: Sophomore K Tyler McNamara (Medway, Mass.) kicked his 14th field goal of the season Saturday at Bryant to break the New England Division II record. It was also the 20th of his career, tying the Northeast-10 record. Senior center Chris Whitman (Billerica, Mass.) was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 1 college division team, and McNamara was chosen for the All-District second team.

BRYANT: Captured its first outright conference championship on Saturday, defeating Bentley in the regular season finale, 29-3. The Bulldogs were co-champions in 2006. Bryant earned its second consecutive NCAA tournament bid Sunday and will play at Southern Connecticut next Saturday. Quarterback Charlie Granatell (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) set a new Bryant single season record with his 148th completion in Saturday's game. Senior Sean Bergin (New Windsor, N.Y.) set a new single season record for receiving yards in a season with 644.

PACE: Senior linebacker Joe Streany broke the school single-season record for tackles in a season, totaling 148, eclipsing the previous mark set of 142 set in 1994 by Brian Pirone. Streany finishes his career with 355 tackles, good for fourth all-time in school history.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Junior quarterback Steve Armstrong became the school's career passing yardage leader during the game versus Saint Anselm as he moved ahead of Kevin Dickinson (7,524 yards). Armstrong now has 7,718 yards in just under three full seasons for the Owls. In addition, Armstrong was named a Harlon Hill Award finalist last week and was the only representative from the Northeast-10. The Owls qualified for the NCAA playoffs for the third consecutive year and will also host a Division II football playoff contest for the first time in program history.
