Northeast-10 Offensive Player of the Week
Steve Armstrong, Southern Connecticut (Jr., QB, Nutley, N.J.) - Led
the Owls to their first NCAA playoff win in program history.
Finished 17-of-31 for 284 yards and threw three touchdowns. During
the course of Saturday's win over Bryant, set new SCSU
single-season records for touchdowns (31) and passing yards
(3,134).
Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week
Andrew Pratt, Southern Connecticut (So., LB, West Haven, Conn.) -
Had 16 tackles (eight solo) in the Owls' NCAA playoff win over
Bryant. Also had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery...Broke
up a pass.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Charles Gallagher, Southern Connecticut (Fr., K, Hartford, Conn.) -
Went 6-of-6 on extra points and hit a 22-yard field goal in the
NCAA playoff win over Bryant.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Sean Bergin, Bryant (Sr., WR, New Windsor, N.Y.) - Caught seven
passes for 61 yards against Southern Connecticut in the NCAA
playoffs.
Jerell Smith, Bryant (So., RB, Brooklyn, N.Y.) - Rushed for 52
yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns against Southern
Connecticut. In addition, returned three kickoffs for 64 yards
including a long of 31 yards.
Jarom Freeman, Southern Connecticut (So., RB, Peekskill, N.Y.) -
Rushed 25 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns in the NCAA
playoff win over Bryant. Also caught a 65-yard touchdown pass to
give him three total scores on the day. Tallied 211 all-purpose
yards in the win.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: The Falcons had three players, more than
any other team, selected for the New England Football Writers Div.
II-III All-New England Team. They were NE-10 Defensive Player of
the Year Paul Tetzel (Millbury, Mass.), NE-10 Defensive Lineman of
the Year Scott Miller (Reading, Mass.) and two-time NE-10 Offensive
Lineman of the Year Mackenzy Bernadeau (Waltham, Mass.).
