NE-10 Regular Season Champs Receive Hardware During Halftime Presentation



The American International College football team were presented championship hardware during h alftime of the men's basketball game this past weekend. The Yellow Jackets won their first ever Northeast-10 Regular Season Championship this year after finishing conference play 7-0 and 9-2 overall.  American International also made its first-ever NCAA playoff appearan ce this season.

Northeast-10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert was on hand to present the Yellow Jackets the Northeast-10 Regular Season Championship Trophy as well as presenting senior Travis Poole (Brooklyn, N.Y.) the NE-10 Most Valuable Player trophey and senior Jean Simeon (Atlantic City, N.J.) the NE-10 Defensive Lineman of the Year trophy.

 Poole, the Northeast-10 Most Valuable Player, accumulated 1,252 all-purpose yards this season, fifth best in the Northeast-10. Poole currently sits sixth among the Division II leaders in yards per game (109.91) and 19th in scoring. Poole finished the year with 66 receptions, 1209 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns. He was also named to the All-Northeast-10 First Team for the first time in his collegiate career and was named to the All-Region Second Team.
 
  Simeon caused havoc to opposing quarterbacks this year as he finished fourth in the conference with eight sacks and 49 total tackles. Simeon is part of a Yellow Jackets’ defense that held opponents to 17.1 points per game and that held opposing offenses to only 63.6 yards on the ground. Simeon was also named to the All-Northeast-10 First Team this season for the first time in his collegiate career and earned All-Region First Team honors.

With 15 member institutions the Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation. Its 23 championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500 student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II conference.
