Worcester, Mass. - On Friday evening, the Assumption College football team took part in the Fourth Annual Relay for Life at Assumption College, forming a team called "Aaron's Angels". The group is raising money for the fight against cancer in memory of Aaron Ellis, a member of the Assumption College football program who passed away after a brave fight with cancer in August 2011.
The team initially set a goal of $1,000, which was quickly surpassed according to team captain Nick DiAntonio. At the start of the Relay on Friday evening, the group had raised $2,310 for the worthy cause.
Prior to the event, which was attended by a number of members of the Ellis family, DiAntonio offered memories of his teammate as the rest of the football team looked on in attendance. In all, there were several hundred walkers in the event that will raise over $13,000 dollars for the fight against cancer.
