South Easton, Mass. – The University of New Haven has been ranked No. 13 in the 2012 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Preseason Division II Coaches' Poll, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

New Haven, which went 11-2 and 8-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play a year ago, advanced all the way to the national quarterfinals before falling to Winston-Salem State University, 27-7.
The Chargers outscored opponents 523-307 and averaged 422 yards of total offense per game a year ago. New Haven also had 17 players receive All-Conference honors last year, while head coach Peter Rossomando (pictured) has been named the Northeast-10 Coach of the Year each of the past two seasons.
The Chargers will open their season on September 1 when they host Merrimack College before traveling to Raleigh, N.C. the following week to take on Saint Augustine's College.
Southern Connecticut State University and Assumption College both appeared in the 'Others Receiving Votes' category in the poll.
The Northeast-10 Football Coaches' Preseason Poll will be released next Monday, August 20.
