South Easton, Mass. – Saint Michael’s junior forward
Andrea Slaven (Danvers, Mass.) has been
named the 2007 Northeast-10 Regular Season Most Valuable Player as
voted by the conference’s 11 coaches.
Slaven leads the Notheast-10 in points (41) and in goals (19) as
well as being ranked nationally in the top five in both categories.
In addition, Slaven was named to the Northeast-10 All Conference
First-Team.
Alyssa Sliney (Brewster, Mass.), in just
her second year of collegiate play, has been named the Northeast-10
Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight year. Last
season’s freshman of the Year, Sliney has surrendered just
under a goal per game (0.99), which ranks her second nationally and
leads the conference in shutouts (9) and save percentage (.858). In
addition, Sliney was named to the Northeast-10 All Conference
First-Team.
UMass Lowell’s Jaci Moulton (Baldwinville,
Mass.) was selected as the Northeast-10 Offensive
Player of the Year. Moulton currently has 36 points and 17 goals
which is ranked second best in the conference behind Slaven. In
addition, Moulton is ranked in the top 10 nationally in points and
goals scored. She was also named to the Northeast-10 All Conference
First-Team.
Jayne Vagenas (Harwich,
Mass.) received the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of
the Year honor. Vagenas has helped a UMass Lowell defense hold
opponents to under two goals per game (1.22) while shutting out
seven opponents and holding 11 to one goal or less. She currently
has two goals, four assists and one defensive save on the season.
In addition, Vagenas was named to the Northeast-10 All Conference
First-Team.
UMass Lowell’s Katie Enaire (Amesbury,
Mass.) was selected as the Northeast-10 Freshman of
the Year. In just her first year of collegiate play, Enaire is
ranked in the top 10 for points (25) and goals (12) in the
Northeast-10. She also was named to theNortheast-10 All Conference
Second-Team.
For the fifth straight season, UMass Lowell’s
Shannon Hlebichuk was named the
Northeast-10 Coach of the Year. Hlebichuk has led a young UMass
Lowell team to its second Regular Season Title in three years.
