BENTLEY AND UMASS LOWELL FACE OFF IN NCAA SEMIFINALS

South Easton. Mass. – The Falcons of Bentley College and the
University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks will meet in the
NCAA Division II Field Hockey Semifinals at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov.
9 at Cushing Field Complex in Lowell, Mass.
UMass Lowell received the top seed in the North Region and the host
of the 2007 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship. This
contest will feature a re-match of the 2007 Northeast-10
Championship game in which the River Hawks were victorious 5-1,
claiming their fifth straight title.
Bentley, advancing to the semifinals for the sixth time in eight
years, defeated C.W. Post 2-0 in the First Round of the tournament.
The Falcons received goals from Abbie DeMusis and NE-10 All
Conference selection Heather Buda. Alyssa Sliney made nine saves in
goal and recorded her 11th shutout of the season. Sliney, the
Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Year, leads the NE-10 in goal
against average (1.09) and shutouts. Buda currently has seven goals
and five assists on the year.
UMass Lowell will enter the semifinal riding a 12 game winning
streak dating back to September 22. The River Hawks are led by Jaci
Moulton, the NE-10 Offensive Player of the Year, who is ranked
second in the conference in goals (17) and points (36). Katie
Enaire, NE-10 Freshman of the Year, and Sammy Macy have combined to
score 20 goals and seven assists for the River Hawks.
The NCAA Division II Championship game is slated for Sunday, Nov.
11 at 1 p.m. with the winner of Bentley/UMass Lowell squaring off
against the winner of Indiana (Pa.)/Bloomsburg.
