Saint Anselm College: 'Cassarino Named as Field Hockey Head Coach'

Manchester, N.H. -- Maygan Cassarino has been named as the Saint Anselm field hockey head coach, announced Dr. Jo-Ann Nester, director of athletics. Cassarino replaces Kathryn Gaudreau, who resigned to become the field hockey and women's lacrosse head coach at Rivier College (N.H.).
"I am very happy to announce that we have hired Maygan Cassarino to head our field hockey program," said Nester. "Maygan has an outstanding player and coaching credential and I am excited that she has accepted our offer to take our program to the next level. Maygan will take our team on the Holland preseason trip that had been arranged by Coach Gaudreau, and she will receive all of the support necessary to allow the Saint Anselm field hockey program to attain success."
Cassarino served as the head goalie coach at the University of Maine Field Hockey Camp from 2005-2008, working with goalies in one-on-one situations and developing indoor and outdoor strategy play. In addition, she has been the head goalie coach for the Granite State Elite Field Hockey Club since 2008, working with prospective college athletes on game tactics and on-field instruction. Cassarino has also been on the staff at the Cave Girl Field Hockey Camp since 2003, working with goalies ages 11-18 and teaching them how to prepare for on-field experience.
"I am extremely grateful and honored to have the opportunity to be the head field hockey coach at Saint Anselm College and be a part of its distinguished athletic and academic tradition," said Cassarino. "I look forward to the challenges of competing in the Northast-10 Conference.
Cassarino was a three-year goalkeeper at the University of Maine and a two-time member of the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in 2006 and 2007. During her playing career for the Black Bears, she posted a 5-7 overall record with two career shutouts, a 2.26 goals against average and a .724 save percentage. In addition to her personal accomplishments, Cassarino's team captured the 2005 America East championship.
