UMass Lowell Defeated in National Championship Game
The University of Massachusetts Lowell’s bid to repeat as National Champions was carried to the wire, but the River Hawks came up short in a 2-1 loss to West Chester University on Sunday afternoon in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The Golden Rams (17-4), who moved down from Division I to Division II this season, won their first NCAA Field Hockey Championship.

UMass Lowell defeated American Int’l in the First Round of the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship to advance to the National Semifinals, where they will take on confernece foe, Merrimack. It will be the third meeting this year between the two teams, Merrimack won the regular season matchup, 2-1, while UMass Lowell won the Northeast-10 Championship final showdown, 3-2.
