Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Garrett Beyor, American International (So., Monson, Mass.) - Shot
an even-par 144 after carding a two-over 74 on day-one and a
two-under 70 on day-two to win the Yellow Jacket Invitational. As a
team, American International place second overall.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Brian Fleckles, Franklin Pierce (Fr., Sandwich, Mass.) - Posted a
78.67 stroke average over three rounds of competition in two events
last week. Earned medalist honors at the Blazers Invitational as he
led the Ravens to the team title with a three-over-par round of 74
- matching his season low round. Placed 16th overall with a two-day
score of 162 at the American International Invitational. Moved up
eight spots in the individual standings with a day two score of
78.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Kent Graham, American International (So., Kamuela, Hawaii) - Tied
for seventh at 13-over par 157 (83-74) at the Yellow Jacket
Invitational.
Anderew Mesheau, American International (Jr., Monson, Mass.) - Tied
for 14th at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a 17-over par 161
(84-77).
Jamie Farrea, Assumption (Sr., Portsmouth, R.I.) - At the American
Invitational came in with a top ten finish shooting a 158 for two
rounds. Shot an 80 and a 78 during the two day event. His tie for
ninth place helped lead Assumption to a fifth place tie
overall.
Rob Younker, Assumption (Sr., Waltham, Mass.) - At the American
International Invitational, finished tied for third with a two
round total of 152. Finished with a 76 in both rounds and helped
lead Assumption to a fifth place tie.
Alex Macielak, Bentley (So., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) - Shot of a
pair of 79s during the week, tying for 17th place in the Worcester
State Invitational and fifth in the Rhode Island College
Invitational.
William Powers, Franklin Pierce (Fr., Southbury, Conn.) - Posted an
80.00 stroke average over two rounds of competition at two events
last week. Helped the Ravens to the team title at the Blazers
Invitational as he carded a 79 to place 5th overall. Opened the
week with an 81 at the Worcester State Invitational.
Kyle Munoz, Pace (Sr., Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) - Finished in a three-way
tie for 10th place with a two-round total of 159 (80-79) at the
American International Invitational.
John Devito, Southern New Hampshire (Fr., Nashua, N.H.) - Finished
seventh at the AIC Invitational with a two-day total of 157.
D.J. Lantz, Southern New Hampshire (So., New London, N.H.) -
Finished sixth with a two-day score of 156 at the AIC Invitational,
leading the Penmen to a third-place finish.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Franklin Pierce captured its
first team title of the year at Friday's Blazers Invitational,
hosted by Elms College, with a 320 team score. The Ravens last
title came nearly a year ago with they won their own Spring
Inviational - a title they will defend this week. Freshman Brian
Fleckles earned medalist honors at Friday's event with a season-low
matching round of 74 (+3) to become the Ravens first medalist since
Paul Izzi won the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational on October 14,
2002.
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: SNHU will be making its
third NCAA Championship appearance when it competes at the
Atlantic/East Super Regional May 4-6 at the Cobb Course of The
Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, WV. The Penmen also competed in
the NCAA Championship in 2003 and 2006.
