Falcons earned NCAA
berth after
claiming NE-10, NEIGA Championships in 2011
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Bentley University
has been selected to win the Northeast-10 Conference Golf
Championship for the second time in as many years, as voted upon by
the league’s head coaches.
The Falcons claimed the top spot in the annual Northeast-10 Golf
Coaches Preseason Poll, receiving 98 points and nine first-place
votes overall. They have been picked to claim the conference title
again this fall after posting a cumulative score of 609 for a
six-stroke win last year. Bentley also won the New England
Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships last October
for the first time in program history, becoming the first Division
II program to win the tournament in nearly 20 years.
The two-day 2012 Northeast-10 Championship will take place on
September 30 and October 1 at En-Joie Golf
Club in Endicott, N.Y. Le Moyne College will serve as host of
the 11-team match.
Adelphi University finished second in the poll with 74 points,
while American International College was third with 67 points and
one first-place vote. University of Massachusetts Lowell (65
points) and Franklin Pierce University (59 points) finished fourth
and fifth, respectively, in the poll.
All five of the teams making up the top five in the poll advanced
to the NCAA Championship this past spring.
Rounding out the voting was Le Moyne with 53 points, Saint Anselm
College with 49 points, Southern New Hampshire University with 48
points and one first-place vote, The College of Saint Rose with 39
points, Assumption College with 35 points, and Saint
Michael’s College with 19 points.
