Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Brent Bousquet, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., F, East Longmeadow, MA) - Scored two goals and had one assist against Franklin Pierce. Also scored in a non-league win over Assumption.
Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week
Sean O'Leary, Assumption (Sr., G, Windham, ME) - Made 24 saves in a shutout
victory over Worcester State.
Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll:
Jim Trahon, Assumption (So., F, Needham, MA) - Had three goals and an assist for four points last week. Scored a goal versus Southern New Hampshire and had two more in a win over Worcester State. Had an assist at Curry.
Brian DelSavio, Franklin Pierce (Jr., F, Orangeburg, NY) - Notched three goals and one assist. Recorded a hat-trick against Southern New Hampshire University.
Mike Foley, Saint Anselm (So., F, Medford, MA) - Notched four points against Salem State with a goal and three assists.
Erik Smith, Saint Michael's (Jr., G, Warwick, RI) - Made 38 saves in a loss to Bowdoin.
Kyle Bousquet, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., D, East Longmeadow, MA) - Totaled three points in a 2-0 week. Scored a goal in a non-league win over Assumption and totaled a goal and an assist in a league win over Franklin Pierce.
Josh Green, Stonehill (Jr., G, Mendon, MA) - Made 34 saves, including 24 stops in first two periods alone, in a 4-2 setback to Nichols.
Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Penmen closed out their league schedule with a 9-4 win over Franklin Pierce Saturday and in the process secured the top seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. Eleven different players scored for the Penmen during their wins over Assumption and Franklin Pierce last week. Sophomore Brandon Hammermeister (Calgary, Alberta) saw his six-game goal-scoring streak come to an end against Franklin Pierce. Senior Chris White (Naperville,IL) scored a goal in the win over Franklin Pierce and now stands two points shy of 100 for his career SAINT ANSELM: Friday's shutout loss marked the first at home since a 7-0 loss to Colby on November 23, 2002. With two goals and an assist this weekend, Josh Hechter moved into 12th place on the all-time points list with 112, and into eighth place on the all-time assists list with 76 STONEHILL: The "battle for the bye" is set to ensue on Tuesday evening when Stonehill hosts Saint Anselm in the regular season finale for both squads, as the winner will share the Northeast-10 regular season title with Southern New Hampshire while earning the second seed in the league tournament and the accompanying bye into the conference semi-finals. The loser of Tuesday's tilt earns the third seed in the Northeast-10 playoffs and will host sixth-seeded Assumption in the league quarterfinals this weekend. Freshman F Brendan O'Brien (Braintree, MA) is one of six individuals featured in the February 20th issue of Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd" column, as the seven-time Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week becomes the second Stonehill student-athlete featured in the Sports Illustrated column in less than a month, joining Skyhawk women's basketball freshman standout Kelsey Simonds, who was featured in the January 23rd edition of the magazine. O'Brien is the second Stonehill ice hockey student-athlete to be featured in "Faces In The Crowd", as 2003-2004 Northeast-10 Player of the Year Rob Pascale appeared in the December 23, 2003 edition of the magazine. Junior G Josh Green (Mendon, MA) suffered just his second setback in 11 decisions on the season last Wednesday evening against Nichols SAINT MICHAEL'S: Entering Friday's game against the Mules, Saint Michael's had not been shutout in its previous 29 games, dating back to February 5, 2005, when the team was defeated 9-0, also by Colby. With the fourth seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Tournament, the Purple Knights will host fifth seed Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 3 p.m.ASSUMPTION: Assumption finished its regular season last week with three games in five days, coming away with a shutout win over Worcester State on Senior night on Thursday. They must wait to see the result of the final Northeast-10 game on Tuesday as it will determine where they will travel to in the first round of the NE-10 playoffs. Freshman forward Craig Moreton (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield) had a three point week for the Ice Dogs, scoring two goals and adding an assist. Sophomore defenseman Randy Morin (Auburn, ME/Edward Little) scored his first career goal in the win against Worcester State. Senior Bobby Fanciullo (Medford, MA/Arlington Catholic) had a four point week in two games. He had a goal and an assist at Southern N.H. and two assists versus Worcester State.
