Stonehill Men's Basketball 75-Foot Buzzer Beater Appears on ESPN's "College GameNight"
Feb 21, 2006

A halftime buzzer beater helped link the Stonehill College men's basketball team with "The Worldwide Leader in Sports" on Monday evening, as the Skyhawks were featured as part of ESPN's "College GameNight" and its Gym Gems' segment.

Freshman Matt Hall's (Springfield, Mass./Springfield Central) 75-foot buzzer beater just before the half in last Wednesday's 68-58 Skyhawk victory over Southern New Hampshire at Merkert Gymnasium was one of "College GameNight's" four Gym Gems' on Monday evening, as Hall grabbed a rebound of a missed Penmen shot with 1.2 seconds remaining and swished the long buzzer beater to cap a 21-0 Stonehill run that ended the half.

ESPN's "College GameNight", hosted by Dave Revsine, Digger Phelps and Len Elmore, will air once again on Tuesday afternoon at Noon EST.

Stonehill, 20-5 overall and tied for first place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings with Bentley at 16-5, closes out its regular season later this evening by heading to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption in a league outing that begins at 7:30 p.m. EST. The Skyhawks, who have posted back-to-back 20-win campaigns under third year Head Coach David McLaughlin for the first time in 24 years, are seeking a share of their first Northeast-10 regular season crown in eight years.
