Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Nate Fritsch, Bentley (Sr., F, Durham, N.C.) - Had 27 points, 10
rebounds, two steals, a blocked shot and no turnovers in the 62-59
win over Bloomfield. Made 11-of-18 field goal attempts, including
his only three, and sank four of five free throws, including two
with 8.5 seconds to give the team a three-point lead.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Darin Mency, Merrimack (Fr., G, Hagerstown, Md.) - Averaged 23
points and 8.5 rebounds in two games this past week. Scored 24
points, while shooting 8-of-12 from the field versus Bryant. Also
pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists. Recorded a
double-double against Pace with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Corey Diethorn, Assumption (Sr., C, Pittsburgh, Pa.) - Averaged 20
points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 50.0 percent (16-32 FG) from
the floor in a 1-1 week. Scored 28 points (10-17 FG, 7-9 FT) and
had eight rebounds in a victory over UMass Lowell. Had 12 points
and seven rebounds at Le Moyne.
Cecil Gresham, Bryant (So., F, Bloomfield, Conn.) - Averaged 21
points and four rebounds per game last week. Had 16 points on
5-of-11 shooting in a win over Merrimack. Had 26 points on 8-of-16
shooting in a loss at Saint Rose.
Jason Holmes, Le Moyne (Sr., G, Mamaroneck, N.Y.) - In the
team’s only game of the week, a 77-63 victory over
Assumption, scored 21 points, recorded five rebounds, five steals
and three assists. Also had five 3-pointers.
Jonathan Joshua, Le Moyne (Sr., G, Inglewood, Calif.) - In a 77-63
victory over Assumption, scored 15 points, two steals and pulled
down 12 rebounds.
Darren Duncan , Merrimack (So., G , Briarwood, N.Y.) - Averaged 14
points and nine assists in two games this past week.
Desmond Quincy-Jones, Pace (Sr., F, Rye, N.Y.) - Recorded a
double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while swatting five
shots in a 97-94 win over Merrimack. Also shot 6-for-6 from the
free throw line.
Gibraltar White, Pace (Sr., G, Gautier, Miss.) - Totaled 16 points,
four rebounds, two assists and two steals in a win over
Merrimack.
Ryan Williams, Pace (Sr., G, Centreville, Va.) - Scored 25 points,
while chipping in seven boards and two steals in a win over
Merrimack. Shot 5-for-8 from long range and was a perfect 6-for-6
from the free throw line.
Brian Monahan, Saint Michael's (Sr. , F, Kinderhook, N.Y.) - Scored
19 points, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, and grabbed 19
boards in a 91-83 double overtime loss to Stonehill.
James Sorrentine, Saint Michael's (Sr., G, Pawtucket, R.I.) -
Scored 24 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists and
two steals in a double overtime loss to Stonehill.
Steve Dagostino, Saint Rose (Sr., G, Schenectady, N.Y.) - Scored 21
points, to go with five rebounds, four assists and four steals in a
victory over Bryant. Hit 3-of-7 shots from beyond the arc and
knocked down 4-of-6 free throw attempts for the
game.
Shanty Robinson, Saint Rose (Sr., F, Mount Vernon, N.Y.) - Recorded
a double-double behind 16 points and 15 rebounds in a victory over
Bryant. Finished 5-of-9 from the floor and also added three assists
and a pair of steals in the game.
John Mazzarella, Southern Connecticut (So., C, Wallingford, Conn.)
- Posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds (five
offensive) in the win over Franklin Pierce. Shot 5-for-9 from the
floor. Also dished out three assists and blocked four shots.
Matt Hall, Stonehill (Jr., G, Springfield, Mass.) - In a 68-58 win
over Saint Anselm, scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Then in a double overtime, come-from-behind win over Saint
Michael's, scored 10 of his 17 points in the final 2:50 to give the
Skyhawks a 91-83 win.
Nick Smith, Stonehill (Jr., F, Colonia, N.J.) - Averaged 16 points
and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. In a win over Saint Michael's,
notched 20 points and 12 rebounds. Scored 12 points and grabbed
five rebounds in a win over Saint Anselm.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: After completing its non-conference
schedule with a 62-59 victory at Bloomfield, number one-ranked
Bentley has now won its last 42 games against Northeast region
opponents, as well as its last 39 regular season games.
BRYANT: Junior guard Peter Lambert (Cumberland,
R.I.) scored a career-high 29 points and set a school record with
nine three-point field goals in a win over Merrimack Wednesday.
Lambert made 9-of-16 three-point attempts, passing the previous
school record of 8 by Chris Burns (2007) and Jason Bennett
(1999).
SAINT ROSE: The Golden Knights are 43-7 at home
since the renovated Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium was opened at the
outset of the 2004-05 season. Senior guard Steve Dagostino buried
his 202nd career 3-pointer on Saturday making him one of three
players in school history to knock down over 200, 3-pointers.
