Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Bentley, one of three remaining unbeatens
in Division II men's basketball, is the number one ranked team in
Division II for the fifth straight poll, tying the Falcons for the
second longest stay atop the NABC poll since 2001. The Falcons
survived a pair of nail-biters last week, against Franklin Pierce
and Le Moyne, to extend their regular season winning streak to 41
games. They've also won their last 44 games against Northeast
Region opponents, their last 31 regular season conference games and
25 in a row at home.
MERRIMACK: Head Coach Bert Hammel is two wins of
shy of 400 all-time after Tuesday's win at UMass Lowell.
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The 42 points Southern New
Hampshire allowed Saturday against Franklin Pierce were the
third-fewest allowed in program history and matched the fewest
allowed by the program in college basketball's shot clock era. It
marked the fewest points allowed since an 88-42 win over the Ravens
on November 23, 1991. The Penmen have allowed 42 points one other
time since the shot clock was implemented in 1985-86, a 109-42 win
over Daniel Webster on December 4, 1989. The school record for
fewest points allowed came in a 63-28 win over Thomas College
during the 1972-73 season, with the second-fewest points allowed
coming in a 52-38 win over Windham in 1969-70.
