Northeast-10 Player of the Week

Micky Burtnyk, Merrimack (Sr., G, Phoenix, Ariz.) – Averaged 26 points, while shooting 18-of-29 shooting from the field in a 1-1 week. Scored 32 points on 10-for-16 shooting, and 7-for-9 from three-point range in an 85-78 win over Franklin Pierce. Also recorded three rebounds and four assists. Against Assumption, scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, while grabbing two rebounds and dishing out three assists.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Darin Mency, Merrimack (Fr., F, Hagerstown, Md.) –
Average 13 points and eight rebounds in a 1-1 week.
Tallied a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds in an 85-78 win over Franklin Pierce. Picked up 13 points and five rebounds versus Assumption.

Weekly Honor Roll:

Vernon Dupree, American International (Jr., G, Wilmington, Del.) - Averaged 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds this past week. Netted 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists against Bentley and tallied 17 points and four rebounds at Saint Rose.

Corey Diethorn, Assumption (Sr., C, Pittsburgh, Pa.) - Averaged 14.5 points, six rebounds and three blocks in a 2-0 week. Had 10 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in a victory over Merrimack. Scored 19 points (8-14 FG), grabbed six rebounds and had three blocks in a win over Stonehill.

Greg Twomey, Assumption (Sr., F, Groton, Mass.) - Averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 54.5 percent (12-22 FG) from the floor in a 2-0 week. Had 13 points (6-11 FG), eight rebounds, and two assists in a victory over Merrimack. Scored 15 points (6-11 FG), including the game-winning basket with 22 seconds left, grabbed six rebounds, had three assists, and two blocks in a win over Stonehill.

Nate Fritsch, Bentley (Sr., F, Durham, N.C.) - Helped Bentley stay unbeaten by shooting 85 percent overall (11-13) and 71 percent from three (5-7), and averaging 14.5 points in a 2-0 week. Also contributed 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal a game. Had 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting at American International and 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-5 3FG) at UMass Lowell.

Cecil Gresham, Bryant (So., F, Bloomfield, Conn.) - Averaged 16.5 points and four rebounds per game in a pair of wins last week. Had 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting (82 percent) from the floor and grabbed five rebounds in a win over Saint Michael's. Scored 10 points and three boards in a win over Southern Connecticut.

Timothy Munch, Franklin Pierce (Jr., G, Blauvelt, N.Y.) - Averaged 20 points and two steals in a 1-1 week. Netted 27 points and added two assists against Merrimack. Posted 13 points (all first half) and three steals in the win over UMass Lowell.

Laurence Ekperigin, Le Moyne (So., F, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) - In a 86-84 overtime victory over Saint Anselm, netted 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Connected on 9-of-14 from the field and added two blocks in the victory.

Jason Holmes, Le Moyne (Sr., G, Mamaroneck, N.Y.) - In the Dolphins only game this week, scored 33 points on 12-of-21 shooting in a 86-84 overtime victory against Saint Anselm. Converted on 3-of-7 from three-point range and collected three steals.

Ryan Williams, Pace (Sr., G, Centreville, Va.) - Averaged 23 points, 4.5 boards, and 2.5 assists, while shooting 14-for-29 from the field and 8-for-17 from long range in a 2-0 week. Shot 6-for-11 from the field, totaling 18 points, two rebounds and two steals in a win over Southern Connecticut. Scored 28 points, while chipping in seven rebounds and five assists in a win over Saint Michael's.

Chris Vetrano, Saint Anselm (Sr., G, Andover, Mass.) - Averaged 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, three steals and three assists. Highlighting the week was a 26-point game at Le Moyne where he knocked down eight three-pointers.

Branimir Zeko, Saint Anselm (So., F, Mississauga, Ontario) - Averaged 18.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal while shooting 73.1 percent from the field for the week. Had a 16-point, seven-rebound, four-block game versus UMass Lowell. Scored 27 points in a win over Saint Rose, while shooting 11-for-12 from the field. Made his first 11 shots of the game. Concluded the week with a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double at Le Moyne.

Mike Iola, Saint Michael's (Jr., F, West Newbury, Mass.) - Averaged 16 points, six rebounds and three assists this past week. Against Pace, went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc while scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds.

Jermaine Clark, Saint Rose (So., G, Perth Amboy, N.J.) - Averaged 17.5 points in a 1-1 week, while shooting 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from the field and 9-of-15 from beyond the arc. Tossed in 14 points after hitting 4-of-8 from long range in an 85-74 setback at Saint Anselm. Came off the bench to score 21 points, while shooting 6-of-9 from the field against American International.

Shanty Robinson, Saint Rose (Sr., F, Mount Vernon, N.Y.) - Averaged 16.5 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 1-1 week, while shooting 52.0 percent (13-for-25) from the field and hit 7-of-9 from the free throw line. In an 85-74 loss at Saint Anselm, finished with 15 points, eight boards and four assists. In the 86-76 win over American International, tossed in 18 points and pulled down eight boards.

A.J. Rudowitz, Stonehill (So., F, Monroe, N.J.) - Averaged 15 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in a 1-1 week. In a 59-52 win over Southern New Hampshire, had 10 points, four rebounds and two assists. Then in a 64-62 loss at Assumption, scored 20 points and recorded four blocks. For the week shot 54 percent from the field and connected on all four free throw attempts.

Weekly Notes:

BENTLEY: Bentley, just the fourth team in Division II history to hold the number one ranking for at least ten weeks, became the first NE-10 men’s basketball team to "four-peat" as regular season champions. The Falcons have now won 51 straight regular season games and their last 54 against Northeast Region opposition. Senior forward Nate Fritsch became the 25th player in school history to reach 1,300 career points.

SAINT ROSE: With a victory on Saturday, the Golden Knights posted their sixth straight 19-win season, including the 20th in the past 21 years. Senior guard Steve Dagostino finished with 14 points in the contest, including the 1,500th of his career.
