Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Mike Gore, UMass Lowell (Sr., F, Wilmington, Mass.) - Posted
averages of 23.5 points and five rebounds while shooting .667 from
the field in a 1-1 week. Dropped 23 points (10-14 FGs) in a 61-60
loss to Saint Rose in the regular season finale. Followed with 24
points and six rebounds (10-16 FGs) in the upset win over Merrimack
in the NE-10 Tournament first round.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kinard Dozier, Franklin Pierce (Fr., G, Dedham, Mass.) - Posted a
double-double in the season-ending 77-58 victory at American
International. Collected totals of 26 points and ten rebounds to go
with four assists and two steals. Made 7-of-10 shots from the
field, including 3-for-4 from three-point range, and converted
9-of-10 free-throw attempts in the victory.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Aikeem Vanderhorst, American International (So., F, Bay Shore,
N.Y.) - Averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds this past week.
Scored 19 points with eight rebounds against Franklin Pierce and
netted 19 points with seven boards in the first round of the NE-10
touranment at Stonehill.
Courtland Bluford, Assumption (So., G, Ft. Washington, Md.) - In
the team’s only game of the week, scored 16 points on 6-of-10
shooting with eight rebounds and four assists at Pace.
Lew Finnegan, Bentley (Jr., G, Lexington, Mass.) - In a 95-64 win
over Southern Connecticut, scored 19 points (6-14 fg, 3-6 3's, 4-4
ft). Also had four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Mike Sikonski, Bentley (Jr., F, Holden, Mass.) - Erupted for 18
points in only 20 minutes and also had seven rebounds and a steal
in a 95-64 win over Southern Connecticut. Was six-of-nine from the
floor and perfect on six trips to the foul stripe.
Jason Westrol, Bentley (So., G, Brielle, N.J.) - Helped Bentley
finish the regular season with a 19-point, five-rebound, four-steal
effort in a 95-64 win over Southern Connecticut State. Made 8-of-13
shots overall, including his only three.
Dan Cromwell, Le Moyne (So., C, Victor, N.Y.) - Led the Dolphins
with 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 75-70 win over Saint Anselm in
the first round of the NE-10 Tournament. Shot 8-of-12 from the
field and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe. Also added four blocks
and one steal.
Darren Duncan, Merrimack (So., G, Briarwood, N.Y.) - Averaged 21.5
points, 8.5 assists, and 7.5 rebounds in two games this past week.
Tallied 30 points, nine boards and eight assists in a 79-60 win
over Bryant.
Darin Mency, Merrimack (Fr., F, Hagerstown, Md.) - Averaged 21
points and six rebounds in two games this week. Converted on
7-of-17 from behind the arc.
Desmond Quincy-Jones, Pace (Sr., F, Rye, N.Y.) - Tallied 15 points,
nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in a win over
Assumption. Shot 7-for-12 from the field in the victory.
Ryan Williams, Pace (Sr., G, Centreville, Va.) - Scored 27 points,
while shooting 5-for-10 from downtown and a perfect 8-for-8 from
the free throw line in a win over Assumption. Chipped in five
rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals in the victory.
Thomas Baudinet, Saint Anselm (Fr., G, Watertown, Conn.) - Led the
Hawks with a 26-point effort in a loss at Le Moyne in the NE-10
Tournament. Capped off the season by knocking down 8-of-11 from
three-point land, along with one assist and two rebounds in 35
minutes of play.
Brian Monahan, Saint Michael's (Sr., F, Kinderhook, N.Y.) - Tallied
27 points (9-14 FG) and 15 rebounds in the regular-season finale
versus Southern New Hampshire.
Steve Dagostino, Saint Rose (Sr., G, Schenectady, N.Y.) - Buried a
27-footer with 0.4 seconds remaining to give Saint Rose a 61-60
victory at UMass Lowell. Finished with 16 points, eight assists,
seven rebounds and three steals in the game. Was also a perfect
5-for-5 from the foul line.
Gerald Carter, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., G, Harlem, N.Y.) -
Averaged 16 points, 4.5 assists, four rebounds and two steals in
two games. Totaled 21 points and five rebounds in a setback to
Saint Michael's. Added 11 points and seven assists in the first
round tournament loss to Bryant.
A.J. Rudowitz, Stonehill (So., F, Monroe Township, N.J.) –In
a 1-1 week, averaged 15 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 64
percent from the field. In a loss at Saint Anselm, scored in double
figures with 14 points. Then in the opening round win over American
International, scored 16 points. Also made all eight free throw
attempts during the week.
Weekly Notes:
ASSUMPTION: Senior captain Greg Twomey (Groton,
Mass.) became the 37th Greyhound to score 1,000 points last Tuesday
at Pace. Twomey is the fourth Greyhound to record 1,000 career
points this season (Charde Floyd, Corey Diethorn, Bethany Plasski,
Greg Twomey).
BENTLEY: Bentley completed its second straight
unbeaten regular season and will enter next season riding an NCAA
Division II record 54 game regular season winning streak. The
Falcons, who have held the number one ranking in Division II since
Nov. 27, are the only team in conference history that has competed
in all 28 NE-10 tournaments. Bentley will be looking to win at
least one game in the conference playoffs for the tenth straight
year.
MERRIMACK: Merrimack's 17 regular season wins is
the highest for a Warrior team since the 1999-00 team that won 18
and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
SAINT MICHAEL’S: Seniors Brian Monahan and
James Sorrentine (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished their careers on
Tuesday as two of the most prolific scorers in program history.
Monahan is currently 13th all-time with 1,451 points (and sixth
with 871 rebounds), while Sorrentine finishes 14th with 1,433
points. Sorrentine also finishes his career with 340 3-pointers, 39
more than the previous program record.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Senior forward Ktrice
McNeill will leave Southern Connecticut as its field goal
percentage leader. McNeill's career field goal percentage (60.7%)
and his 2007-08 season shooting clip (64.3%) both mark program
records. Also, senior forward Devon Sullivan exits the collegiate
game as the 11th most prolific rebounder in program history with
515 boards in 73 career games.
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Senior Sam Carey (Manchester, N.H.
became the 17th player in school history to reach the 1,500 point
mark Saturday. His 1,506 career points place him 16th all-time.
