Northeast-10 Player of the Week

Brian Monahan, Saint Michael's (Sr., F, Kinderhook, N.Y.) - Averaged 25.5 points and 17 rebounds per game in two wins over Mercy and Dowling. Also named the Doc Jacobs Classic 'Most Outstanding Player' for his performance.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Darin Mency, Merrimack (Fr., G, Hagerstown, Md.) - Averaged 24 points in two wins this week. Shot 9-for-17 from behind the arc and 53% from the field, while averaging 34 minutes.

Weekly Honor Roll:


Ryan Leak, American International (So., F, Brooklyn, N.Y.) - Averaged 14 points and 5.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Yellow Jackets. Scored 11 points with four rebounds in AIC's win against Post University and netted 17 points with seven boards in the Yellow Jackets victory over Bridgeport.

Lew Finnegan, Bentley (Jr., G, Lexington, Mass.) - Bentley's leading scorer in the Clarion Hotel Tip-Off Classic, averaging 17.5 points, five rebounds and two steals. Shot 63 percent from the floor, made four of six three-pointers and sank seven of eight free throws. Had 22 points (8-12 fg), seven rebounds and three assists against Pfeiffer and 13 points vs. Barton. Named to All-Tournament Team.

Nate Fritsch, Bentley (Sr., F, Durham, N.C.) - Named the MVP of the Clarion Hotel Tip-Off Classic following a 19-point, six-rebound performance in a 71-46 win over Barton. In the tournament, averaged 13.5 points and five rebounds while shooting 53 percent from field, 50 percent from three (3-6) and 86 percent from line (6-7).

Chris Birrell, Bryant (So., G, Scituate, R.I.) - Averaged 16.0 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game plus 3.5 assists per game in a pair of games. Had a game-high 19 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists in a win over Post University. Had 13 points and seven rebounds against Bridgeport.

Timothy Munch, Franklin Pierce (Jr., G, Blauvelt, N.Y.) - Averaged 16 points, five rebounds, an assist and steal in a 2-0 week at the Doubletree Doc Jacobs Classic. Shot 43.3-percent (13-30) from the field. Scored a team-high 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field (2-3 three's) to go with four rebounds in a win over Dowling. Totaled 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field, six rebounds and two steals in the win over Mercy.

Dan Cromwell, Le Moyne (Sr., C, Victor, N.Y.) - Averaged 19 points and six rebounds for the Dolphins in a 1-1 week. Scored 24 points against St. Thomas Aquinas in a 75-60 victory. Scored 14 points and blocked four shots in the Dolphins' opener against Mansfield.

Laurence Ekperigin, Le Moyne (So., F, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) - Averaged 19.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored 22 pts and grabbed 10 rebounds in a loss to Mansfield. Netted 17 pts and pulled down seven rebounds in the home opener against St. Thomas Aquinas.

Micky Burtnyk, Merrimack (Sr., G, Phoenix, Ariz.) - Averaged 22.5 points per game in two games this week. Shot 80% from behind the arc on 8-of-10 shooting and was 11-for-13 from the free-throw line. Added 10 rebounds and four steals.

Laurence McGhee, Pace (So., G, Linden, N.J.) - Averaged 15.5 points, four assists and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting .529 (9-for-17) from the field and went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line in two games at the Minnesota-Makato Pepsi Tip-Off Classic. Tallied 18 points, four rebounds and four assists, while shooting 5-for-9 from the field and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe against Minnesota-Duluth. Totaled 13 points, five rebounds and four assists along with 5-fo-5 shooting from the free throw line against Minnesota-Mankato.

Ryan Williams, Pace (Sr., G, Centreville, Va.) - Averaged 24 points and 2.5 assists, while shooting .531 (17-for-32) from the field and .412 (7-for-17) from three-point range in two games at the Minnesota-Makato Pepsi Tip-Off Classic. Tallied 20 points and three assists, while shooting 8-for-13 from the field against Minnesota-Duluth. Totaled 28 points, three rebounds and two assists, while nailing 5-of-11 three-pointers against Minnesota-Mankato.

Thomas Baudinet, Saint Anselm (Fr., G, Watertown, Conn.) – Had a 19-point performance to lead the Hawks to an 88-80 road win over Southern Connecticut. Shot 7-of-11 from the field and added four rebounds, one assist and two steals in 24 minutes.
Junior Mitchell, Saint Anselm (Sr., G, Brooklyn, N.Y.) - Finished with 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting, 2-for-4 from three-point land, along with five rebounds, one assist and two steals in 22 minutes.

James Sorrentin, Saint Michael's (Sr., G, Pawtucket, R.I.) - In two wins over Mercy and Dowling, drained 9-19 three-pointers to average 18.0 points per game including 25 versus Dowling.

Shanty Robinson, Saint Rose (Sr., F, Mount Vernon, N.Y.) - Had 19 points and established a personal milestone by pulling down 13 boards in an 85-74 season-opening loss versus Merrimack. Shot 7-for-13 from the floor and went 5-of-7 from the line.

Matt Hall, Stonehill (Jr., G, Springfield, Mass.) - Shot 69 percent from the floor, averaging 21 points per game as the Skyhawks split a pair of games. In a 93-79 win over Queens, had 18 points on seven-for-10 shooting, to go along with two rebounds and two assists. Then in the loss to the host Bears, was nine-for-13 from the field for 24 points and added four steals.


Weekly Notes:

BENTLEY: Senior forward Nate Fritsch became the 43rd player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point plateau. Fritsch was named the MVP of the Shepherd Clarion Hotel Tip-Off Classic while the All-Tournament Team included senior Yusuf Abdul-Ali (Springfield, Mass.) and junior Lew Finnegan (Lexington, Mass.). With its victory over defending NCAA Division II national champion Barton, Bentley extended its regular season win streak to 29 and snapped the Bulldogs’ 22-game win streak.
