Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Brian Monahan, Saint Michael's (Sr., F, Kinderhook, N.Y.) -
Averaged 30.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week,
including 35 points on 15-17 shooting from the field against
Merrimack.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
John Tello, Saint Anselm (Fr., F, Ridgefield Park, N.J.) - Led the
Hawks by averaging 18 points and six rebounds per game last week.
In a close loss at Bloomfield, put up 20 points and eight rebounds
on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Followed that with 16 points
and six rebounds in a home loss to Le Moyne.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Aikeem Vanderhorst, American International (So., F, Bay Shore,
N.Y.) - Averaged 18 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 62.5
percent from the field (15-24) and 85.7 percent from the free throw
line (6-7) this past week. Scored 22 points and grabbed eight
rebounds at Bentley and netted 14 points with three boards at
Merrimack.
Greg Twomey, Assumption (Sr., F, Groton, Mass.) - Averaged 13.5
points, seven rebounds, and 1.5 assists in a 1-1 week. Scored 18
points (7-13 FG, 3-3 FT) with six rebounds and two assists in a win
over Bryant. Had nine points and eight rebounds versus Bentley.
Nate Fritsch, Bentley (Sr., F, Durham, N.C.) - Had back-to-back
17-point, five-rebound performances off the bench in wins over
American International and Assumption. Shot 50 percent overall,
made half of his six three-point attempts and hit three of four
free throws.
Laurence Ekperigin, Le Moyne (So., F, Cortland Manor, N.Y.) - In
victories over Southern Connecticut and Saint Anslem, averaged 20
points and 13 rebounds per game. Also shot .720 (18-25) from the
field in the two games.
Jason Holmes, Le Moyne (Sr., G, Mamaroneck, N.Y.) - Averaged 21.5
points per game in victories over Southern Connecticut and Saint
Anselm. Shot .438 from the field (14-32) and .391 (9-23) from
beyond the three-point arc. Also dished out 11 assists and recorded
two steals.
Darren Duncan, Merrimack (So., G, Briarwood, N.Y.) - Averaged 19
points and 7 assists leading Merrimack to wins over Saint Michael's
and American International last week. Shot 62 percent on 13-of-21
shooting from the field.
Desmond Quincy-Jones, Pace (Sr., F, Rye, N.Y.) - Averaged a
double-double with 14.5 points and 10 rebounds along with three
blocks in a 2-0 week. Posted a double-double with 18 points and 14
rebounds along with four blocks, while shooting 7-for-13 from the
field versus Franklin Pierce. Tallied 11 points, six boards and two
blocks, while hitting 3-of-7 from three-point range against
Southern New Hampshire.
Gibraltar White, Pace (Sr., G, Gautier, Miss.) - Led the team with
18.5 points, while grabbing 2.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Shot
14-for-22 63.6 percent from the field and 5-for-9 55.6 percent from
downtown for the week. In a win over Franklin Pierce, shot 8-for-12
from the field and 3-for-5 from long range, finishing with 21
points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists. In a win over
Southern New Hampshire, totaled 16 points, two rebounds and two
assists, while shooting 6-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4
three-point range.
Chris Vetrano, Saint Anselm (Sr., G, Andover, Mass.) - Averaged
15.5 points, five assists and 3.5 steals in an 0-2 week. Began the
week with 17 points, five assists and six steals in a loss at
Bloomfield before a 14-point, five-assist effort in the loss vs. Le
Moyne.
Jon Zylstra, Saint Michael's (Jr., F, Uxbridge, Mass.) - Scored 20
points against Merrimack to average 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds on
the week.
Steve Dagostino, Saint Rose (Sr., G, Schenectady, N.Y.) - Poured
in 24 points to go along with four assists and a pair of steals in
a 71-61 victory at Southern New Hampshire. Hit 6-of-8 shots from
the floor and knocked down 4-of-6 shots from beyond the arc. Also
went 8-for-9 from the foul line.
Ktrice McNeill, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Bronx, N.Y.) - Led
the Owls in scoring and rebounding in both of their games this
week. Scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds at Le Moyne, and
posted 22 points and 11 rebounds against Saint Michael's.
Sam Carey, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., C, Manchester, N.H.) -
Averaged 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in two games last
week. Recorded 25 points and 16 rebounds in a road loss to
Pace.
Gerald Carter, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., F, Harlem, N.Y.) -
Averaged 15.5 points, eight rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals
per game in two games last week. Totaled 19 points and nine
rebounds in a loss to Pace.
Matt Hall, Stonehill (Jr., G, Springfield, Mass.) - Averaged 14
points per game on 65 percent shooting in a 1-1 week. In a 85-74
win over Franklin Pierce, had 18 points on 7-for-8 shooting,
including a 4-for-5 performace from behind the arc. In a loss to
UMass Lowell, reached double figures with 10 points on 4-for-9
shooting.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Won 27 straight regular season conference games
and its last 33 regular season games overall, moved to number one
in the NABC Division II poll for the first time since Feb. 2005 and
the fourth time overall. In Saturday’s win at Assumption, the
Bentley non-starters, a group that includes All-Conference forward
Nate Fritsch , outscored the starting unit, 43-32.
MERRIMACK: Won its first five games of the season. It is
the first 5-0 start in school history.
