Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Nate Fritsch, Bentley (Sr., F, Durham, N.C.) - Had 24 points,
along with six rebounds, three assists, a steal and a blocked shot,
in the overtime win against Merrimack. Made 9-of-14 field goal
attempts and 5-of-6 free throws.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
John Tello, Saint Anselm (Fr., F, Ridgefield Park, N.J.) - Scored
16 points and pulled down eight rebounds in an overtime loss to
Pace. Was 7-of-12 from the field, including 2-for-2 from
three-point land, along with three assist and one block.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Ryan Leak, American International (So., F, Brooklyn, N.Y.) -
Scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Le Moyne.
Aikeem Vanderhorst, American International (So., F, Bay Shore,
N.Y.) - Scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Le
Moyne.
Lew Finnegan, Bentley (Jr., G, Lexington, Mass.) - Had 22 points
and nine rebounds in the 85-82 overtime win against Merrimack. Hit
6-of-6 on three point shots and also had two assists and three
blocks.
Jason Westrol, Bentley (So., G, Brielle, N.J.) - Scored 18 points,
including four in overtime, and also had eight rebounds with an
85-82 win over Merrimack. Was 8-of-16 from the field and also
filled the stat sheet with two assists, a steal and a blocked
shot.
Matt Vassil, Le Moyne (Sr., G, Dalton, Pa.) - Scored 28 points in
an 89-83 victory over American International. Connected on seven
three pointers (7-9) on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Also
collected three rebounds and had one steal.
Dashon Harper, UMass Lowell (Sr., G, Columbus, Ohio) - Scored 22
points and had three assists in a 77-76 overtime victory at
Philadelphia University. Converted 8-of-14 field goal attempts,
including 4-of-10 from 3-point range.
Darren Duncan, Merrimack (So., G, Briarwood, N.Y.) - Scored 23
points in an overtime loss to Bentley. Tallied nine of Merrimack's
11 points in overtime.
Desmond Quincy-Jones, Pace (Sr., F, Rye, N.Y.) - Recorded a
double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while shooting
5-for-9 from the field in an 83-77 overtime win over Saint
Anselm.
Ryan Williams, Pace (Sr., G, Centreville, Va.) - Scored 22 points
in an 83-77 overtime win over Saint Anselm. Shot 6-for-14 from the
field and 2-for-5 from downtown, while chipping in seven rebounds
and six assists.
Lewis Thompson, Saint Anselm (Sr., F, Wall, N.J.) - Had a
16-point, 15-rebound double-double in the overtime loss to Pace.
Finished 8-for-11 from the field, along with three assists, two
blocks and one steal.
Nate Birr, Saint Michael's (Fr., G, Burnsville, Minn.) - Tallied
19 points (7-9 FG, 3-5 3FG), and added three assists and two steals
versus Ohio Valley at the Mercyhurst Tournament.
Brian Monahan, Saint Michael's (Sr., F, Kinderhook, N.Y.) -
Tallied 19 points (7-11 FG, 2-2 3FG), and added nine rebounds, two
assists and two steals versus Ohio Valley at the Mercyhurst
Tournament.
Troy Bowen, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., G, Nashua, N.H.) -
Totaled 21 points and nine rebounds in a win over Franklin Pierce.
Was 7-for-10 overall from the floor and 3-for-4 from three-point
land.
Sam Carey, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., C, Manchester, N.H.) - Was
9-of-11 from the field and totaled 20 points and eight rebounds in
a win over Franklin Pierce.
Matt Hall, Stonehill (Jr., G, Springfield, Mass.) - Was 7-for-10
from the field, including a 5-for-7 showing from behind the arc to
net 20 points. Also added four rebounds and a steal.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Remained number one in Division II for
the third straight week, garnering six of eight first-place votes
and 198 of a possible 200 points. The Falcons have now won 22 in a
row at home and their last 39 against Northeast Region opposition.
Nate Fritsch surpassed 1,100 career points, moving into 30th on
Bentley’s all-time scoring list.
SAINT ANSELM: Senior Chris Vetrano became the
42nd player in Saint Anselm history to score 1,000 career points on
Saturday afternoon with a 13-point effort vs. Pace.
