After claiming its first NCAA title in men's soccer, Fort Lewis snared four spots on the 2005 NSCAA/adidas Men's Division II All-America Team, including three berths on the first team, while four players received the honor for the third time in their careers.
The Fort Lewis trio of defender Bryan Eisenbraun (Lakewood, Colo.) and forwards John Cunliffe (Edgeworth, England) and Cole Sweetser (North Richland Hills, Texas) were named to the first team in addition to earning NCAA All-Tournament honors. They were joined by teammate Nick Clark (Durango, Colo.), who was selected as the second-team goalkeeper.
Four players earned NSCAA/adidas All-America recognition for the third time in their careers: seniors Matt Davey (UC-San Diego/Laguna Niguel, Calif.), Daniell Robertson (Rollins/Stockton-on-Tees, U.K.) and junior Cathal Brady (Lewis/Dublin, Ireland). Seven others received the award for a second time: Cunliffe, Sweetser, Tyler Baldock (Carson-Newman/Surrey, B.C.), Alex Dowling (Clayton State/Johannesburg, South Africa), Chris Joyce (Franklin Pierce/Jarrow, England), Luke Ibbetson (Lander/York, England) and Liam Slack (USC Upstate/Doncaster, England).
The 34 honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, as part of the 2006 NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, Pa.
