South Easton, Mass. – Southern Connecticut State
University junior forward Colin Jackson, has been named the 2006
Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year as
voted by the conference coaches. Jackson leads the Northeast-10 in
scoring with 29 points and in goals with 13 in 17 games played this
season in leading the Owls to a 13-2-2 record and an appearance to
the Northeast-10 playoffs.
Also receiving accolades, forward Jared Joaquin of Bentley College,
a native of North Andover, Mass. was named the Freshman of the
Year.
Franklin Pierce College senior defender Bisharra Etienne of
Rosedale, N.Y. has been named Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the
Year. Also from Franklin Pierce, James Thorpe repeats for the third
straight year as the Goalkeeper of the Year. A junior from East
Longmeadow, Mass., Thorpe earned the same honor after his freshman
and sophomore seasons (2004, 2005) as well as being named the
Freshman of the Year in 2004.
Wade Jean of Saint Michael’s College was named the 2006 Coach
of the Year in a vote of his peers. Jean led the Purple Knights to
an 11-4-4 record and a trip to the Northeast-10 playoffs.
Etienne, Jackson and Thorpe were also named to the Northeast-10
All-Conference First Team. They were joined by teammates Andre
Elphis, Raphael Guimaraes, and Peter Petropanagos. Also named to
the team were American International College’s Chris Charles,
Merrimack’s Tiago Dalboni and from The University of
Massachusetts Lowell Christian Figueroa. Joining Jackson were Owl
teammates Ancil Farrier and Kieron Jennings, along with Matt
Delaney and David McGuire of Southern New Hampshire University.
The Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team included American
International’s Norbert Dusza and Michael Murphy, along with
Michael Vitulano of Franklin Pierce and Mark Lukowiecki and Matt
Pecheone of Le Moyne. Also named to the Second Team were Edens
Chery and Mike Cafeteirno of UMass Lowell and Saint Anselm
College’s Tim Hubbard. Yoshikazu Ishii from Saint
Michael’s and Southern Connecticut’s Jason James and
Brendan Lawless earned Second Team honors, along with Southern New
Hampshire’s Kevin Cumberbatch and Simon Kearney.
The Northeast-10 All-Conference Third Team included Joaquin and
Bentley teammate Mike Earnest, as well as Franklin Pierce’s
David Clifton, Jason Grier, Marek Hawrylik, and Brendan McMahon.
From Le Moyne, Brandon Oot earned Third Team honors, along with
Merrimack’s Donnie Aylward, David Josephs, and Kiel Milliken.
Also named from Saint Michael’s were Tim Williamson and Glenn
Sherman and Joseph Sousa of Stonehill.
