Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Chris Charles, American International (Sr., F, Brooklyn, N.Y.) -
Earned five points in two games this past week. Tallied a goal and
an assist in a 2-2 tie against Bridgeport while also adding the
lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Saint Rose.
Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week
Rob Pedra, Merrimack (Jr., GK, South Hamilton, Mass.) – Went
2-0-0 on the week recording a shutout against Le Moyne. Also made
two saves in a 3-1 win over Stonehill.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Michael Nikiforov, Bentley (Fr., GK, Framingham, Mass.) - Posted a
1.63 goals against average and .800 save percentage in a 1-1 week.
Made six saves against Queens and did not allow a goal in 76
minutes, combining on a shutout with teammate Adam Kilpatrick.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Derrick Ofori, American International (Sr., D, Pawtucket, R.I.) -
Tallied the game-tying goal against Bridgeport. Also assisted on
the lone goal in 1-1 tie against St. Rose.
Jimmy Alexander, Bentley (So., F, Hanover, N.H.) - Scored a goal in
each of the Falcons' two games last week against Bryant and
Queens.
Mike Crepeau, Bentley (Sr., MF, Reading, Mass.) - Recorded two
goals against Queens.
Matt Brown, Bryant (So., F, South Easton, Mass.) - Posted a goal
and an assist in a 3-1 win over Bentley.
Tom Madden, Bryant (Sr., GK, Saco, Maine) - Stopped five shots in
two games, while picking up two victories in as many matches this
past week. Posted a shutout in a 1-0 victory over Southern New
Hampshire.
Bisharra Ettienne, Franklin Pierce (Sr., D, East Elmhurst, N.Y.) -
Earned the annual Jeff Burstein Man-of-the-Match award in leading
the team to a 1-0 victory over UMass Lowell. Scored the lone goal
in the 74th minute.
James Thorpe, Franklin Pierce (Sr., GK, East Longmeadow, Mass.) -
Made two saves to preserve a 1-0 victory over UMass Lowell. Both of
the saves came in the final 11 minutes of regulation to protect the
one goal victory.
Ryan Richards, UMass Lowell (So., GK, Holden, Mass.) - Stopped four
shots and earned a shutout in a 1-1 week. Tested only once in a 2-0
victory at New Haven, while making three saves in the 1-0 loss at
Franklin Pierce.
Tokelo Gugushe, Merrimack (Sr., F, Stoughton, Mass.) - Scored two
goals in a win over Stonehill and picked up an assist in a win over
Le Moyne.
Jon Cournoyer, Saint Anselm (Sr., MF, N. Granby, Conn.) - In a 1-1
week, netted two goals in the 3-2 win over Assumption.
Tim Hubbard, Saint Anselm (Sr., MF, Marshfield, Mass.) - Scored the
game winner against Assumption and also added an assist.
Yoshikazu Ishii, Saint Michael's (Sr., F, Tokyo, Japan) - Scored
two unassisted goals in a 2-0-1 week.
Tim Williamson, Saint Michael's (Sr., GK, Wakefield, R.I.) -
Recorded a shutout with a 0-0 tie at Southern Connecticut stopping
nine shots in the game. Had 16 saves for the week.
Brendan Lawless, Southern Connecticut (Sr., GK, Orleans, Mass.)
– Made four saves to record a shutout in a 0-0 draw with
Saint Michael’s
Weekly Notes:
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Senior GK Dan Pelc
(Hamilton, ONT) moved into sole possession of third place on
Southern New Hampshire’s career shutout list with his 20th
career shutout against Saint Anselm Wednesday.
FRANKLIN PIERCE:Senior All-America defender
Bisharra Ettienne was named the Jeff Burstein Man-of-the-Match for
his efforts in Saturday night’s 1-0 victory over UMass
Lowell. The award is given to Franklin Pierce’s top player in
its annual regular season match with UMass Lowell in memory of the
1998 Walter Peterson Male Student-Athlete of the Year who perished
in an automobile accident near his hometown of Beachwood, N.J., on
July 26, 2001. The former Ravens goalkeeper and standout baseball
player, inducted into Franklin Pierce’s Athletics Hall of
Fame in May, served as an assistant coach at UMass Lowell for two
years after graduating from Franklin Pierce.
