Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Clinched its program-record third
straight Northeast-10 Regular Season Championship last week and
completed just its third unbeaten conference regular season in
program history with its 11-0-2 clip. The Ravens last went unbeaten
in conference play in 1995 when they ran through the New England
Collegiate Conference campaign with a 9-0-1 mark. Franklin Pierce
is unbeaten over its last 26 regular season NE-10 matches at home
dating back to October 2003, posting a 24-0-2 mark in that time.
Senior All-American James Thorpe broke the NCAA Division II career
minutes played record for goalkeepers in the first half of
Wednesday’s 0-0 draw with Southern Connecticut. Thorpe has
now played 7,736:55 over four seasons for the Ravens, surpassing
the previous record of 7,580 minutes by former Southern Connecticut
All-American Bo Oshoniyi (1990-93). Thorpe notched his 46th career
shutout on Saturday to move into a tie for second in NCAA Division
II history.
