Southern New Hampshire Repeats as NE-10 Men’s Soccer Regular Season Champion

South Easton, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men’s soccer team earned the top seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship after winning their second straight regular season title. The Penmen finished conference play with a 10-1-2 record to secure the top seed.

This is the first time in team history that Southern New Hampshire has won the NE-10 regular season title outright. Last year the Penmen were co-champions with the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Le Moyne College (14-2-2, 10-2-1 NE-10) picked up the second seed in the championship over Franklin Pierce University (12-3-2, 10-2-1 NE-10) due to its regular season win over the Ravens. Franklin Pierce will be the third seed followed by Southern Connecticut State University (12-4-1, 9-3-1 NE-10) as the fourth seed. The top four teams will all host quarterfinal matches on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Merrimack College (11-6-1, 9-4-0 NE-10) clinched the fifth seed in this year’s championship and is followed in order by Assumption College (9-6-2, 6-5-2 NE-10), Bentley University (6-9-2, 6-5-2 NE-10) and Saint Anselm College (6-8-3, 6-5-2 NE-10). The Greyhounds, Falcons and Hawks all finished tied for sixth place in the standings and as a result of the conference’s tie-breaking procedures, Assumption earned the sixth seed, while Bentley and Saint Anselm is seventh and eighth, respectively.

Quarterfinal action begins on Sunday, Nov. 1 with #8 Saint Anselm visiting #1 Southern New Hampshire, #7 Bentley is at #2 Le Moyne, #6 Assumption travels to #3 Franklin Pierce and #5 Merrimack will be at #4 Southern Connecticut. All games are scheduled for 1 p.m. with the exception of the Franklin Pierce/Assumption contest which will begin at 4 p.m.

The semifinal round will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 4 with the winner of Southern New Hampshire/Saint Anselm facing the winner of Southern Connecticut/Merrimack and the winner of Le Moyne/Bentley facing the winner of Franklin Pierce/Assumption. The higher remaining seeds will serve as hosts for its respective semifinal match up.

The Northeast-10 Championship final is set for Saturday, Nov. 7 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
