Bryant Claims Top Seed In 2008 Men’s Tennis Championship

South Easton, Mass. – The Bryant University Bulldogs finished
the 2007-2008 Northeast-10 portion of their schedule undefeated at
10-0 and in doing so has claimed the top seed in the Men’s
Tennis Championship presented by Webster Bank.
The Bulldogs have claimed their first Northeast-10 Regular Season
Title since 1996.
Stonehill College (16-5, 9-1 NE-10) received the second seed just
ahead of Merrimack College (9-5, 8-2 NE-10) who earned the third
seed in the tournament. Claiming the fourth seed is Saint
Michael’s College (8-7, 7-3 NE-10). All four teams will host
quarterfinal matches on Tuesday.
Quarterfinal matches include #8 Le Moyne College (4-9, 3-7 NE-10)
at #1 Bryant, #7 Southern New Hampshire University (4-6, 4-6 NE-10)
at #2 Stonehill, #6 Pace University (5-9, 4-6 NE-10) at #3
Merrimack and #5 Bentley College (6-10, 6-4 NE-10) at #4 Saint
Michael’s. Pace won the tie-break with Southern New Hampshire
for the #6 seed due to their regular season conference win.
Quarterfinal matches are slated for 2 p.m with the exception of the
Bentley/Saint Michael's match which is set for 2:30 p.m.
The semifinal round will be on Thursday, April 24 with the winner
of Le Moyne/Bryant facing the winner of Bentley/Saint
Michael’s. The other semifinal match-up will consist of the
winner of Southern New Hampshire/Stonehill and Pace/Merrimack.
Semifinal matches will take place at the highest seed and are
slated for 3 p.m.
The championship match will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April
27 at Stonehill College.
Sponsoring 23 championship sports and 15 full-time members, the
Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic
conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any
Division II conference.
