Seeds Announced for Upcoming Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships

South Easton, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference has announced the seeds for the 2012 Men's and Women's Tennis Championships, which are scheduled to begin this coming Tuesday, April 17th.

Merrimack College is the top seed in the men's championship, while Stonehill College won a draw and was awarded the top seed in the women's championship.

The Warriors finished the Northeast-10 regular season schedule with a perfect 11-0 record, and are 15-7 overall. Merrimack has never won the NE-10 Men's Tennis Championship, but courtesy of their unblemished conference mark, are favored to do so this year.

The defending champion Bentley University Falcons are the two seed, while Southern New Hampshire University was awarded the three seed. Rounding out the rest of the Men's Tennis Championship field is: #4 Stonehill College, #5 Adelphi University, and #6 Le Moyne College.

The top two seeds each receive a bye into the semifinals of the championship on Thursday, while So. New Hampshire and Stonehill will host first round matchups Tuesday, April 17th.

The men's tennis championship match will take place Saturday, April 21st at the site of the highest remaining seed at 1 p.m.

On the women's side, there was a three-way tie during the Northeast-10 regular season, and courtesy of a tie-breaking procedure, Stonehill was awarded the top-seed. Adelphi, Stonehill, and So. New Hampshire all finished the Northeast-10 portion of their schedules with identical 12-1 marks.

Adelphi will be the second seed, and defending Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Champion, So. New Hampshire is the third seed. Saint Michael's (4), Bentley (5), and Merrimack (6) round out the rest of the championship field.

The women's championship will take place Sunday, April 22nd at the site of the highest remaining seed at 1 p.m.

Match 1: #6 Le Moyne at #3 Southern New Hampshire - 4:00 p.m. (Indoor time is 11:00 a.m., location is Manchester YMCA – Allard Center)

Match 2: #5 Adelphi at #4 Stonehill - 2:00 p.m. (Indoor time is 2:00 p.m., location is on campus)

Thursday, April 19th- Semifinals

Match 3: Match 1 winner at #2 Bentley - 2:00 p.m. (Indoor time is 1:00 p.m., location is Woburn Racquet Club)

Match 4: Match 2 winner at #1 Merrimack - 2:00 p.m. (Outdoor location is Bellevue Country Club. Indoor time is 3:30 p.m., location is Willows Racquet & Fitness Center)
