Northeast-10 Player and Pitcher of the Week

Janine Enos, Bryant (So., SP, Wareham, MA) - Pitched a total of 31 innings appearing in five of seven games last week. Had an ERA of 2.26 earning three victories. Threw a three-hitter allowing just one run while striking out six against Le Moyne to finish the regular season. Tossed a three-hit shutout against Le Moyne on the first day of the NE-10 Tournament. Pitched seven innings against UMass Lowell in game one of the championship allowing just three hits and an unearned run in the win. Was named Northeast-10 Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Stacey Lajoie, UMass Lowell (Fr., SS, Gardner, MA) – Had a .381 batting average (8-21) and a .714 slugging percentage while scoring five runs and knocking in nine RBI in a 4-2 week, which included Northeast-10 tournament runner-up. Had a two-run homer in the first inning of the NE-10 championship game at Bryant. Also had a first-inning grand slam in the opener at Bryant.

Weekly Honor Roll:

Lindsay Connor, Bryant (Jr., OF, West Haven, CT) - Hit .423 (11-26) scoring four runs and driving in one. Tallied four stolen bases during the week. Went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in the semi-final win over Southern Connecticut. Also had two hits against Le Moyne and UMass Lowell.

Jess Valentini, Bryant (So., 3B, Cliffside Park, NJ) - Went 7-20 (.350) in seven games for Bryant scoring three times while driving in four. Had the game winning RBI in the championship game in the bottom of the eighth against UMass Lowell. Went 2-for-3 with a homerun, a run scored and two RBI against Lowell in second round action. Also had a sacrifice and a stolen base.

Kristen DesLauriers, Le Moyne (Jr., C, Liverpool, NY) - Hit .348 with four home runs and seven RBI in a 5-3 week. Homered in both of Le Moyne's Saturday Northeast-10 Conference tournament games.

Martha Senko, Le Moyne (Jr., SP, Pine City, NY) - Went 2-2 with a 0.75 ERA. Struck out 23 and allowed 18 hits in 28 innings of action. Spun a one-hitter against Franklin Pierce and a three-hit shutout against Bryant.

Jachael Guanci, UMass Lowell (Jr., OF, Everett, MA) - Had a .412 batting average (7-17) and a .647 slugging percentage. Hit a home run in the sixth inning of a 4-1 win over Southern Connecticut to end the regular season, sealing a win and the No. 2 seed for UML in the NE-10 Tournament.

Clarissa Lewis, Merrimack (Jr., 3B, Peabody, MA) - Hit .500 on the week, going 4-for-8, including three doubles, in two games. Also knocked in a team-high five runs.

Steph Simon, Merrimack (Sr., SS, Windham, NH) - hit .625 in two this week as Merrimack split with Saint Michael's. Had five hits, scored four runs, and knocked in four more runs.

Casey Brooks, Saint Michael's (Jr., Colchester, VT) - Batted .462 (6-13) with three runs scored and three runs batted in a season-ending 3-1 week. Went 5-for-7 with two RBI and one run scored in the doubleheader sweep of Bentley, and went 1-3 with two runs and an RBI in the game one win against Merrimack.

Courtney Young, Stonehill (Fr., C, Danvers, MA) - Went 3-for-7 (.429) with a homer and four RBI in a season-ending doubleheader sweep at Saint Rose. Cracked a three-run homer in a 10-6 nightcap triumph to set school single season record with her seventh round-tripper.

Weekly Notes:

NORTHEAST-10: Four NE-10 teams have been selected in the eight-team NCAA Regional filed. Bryant, the third seed of the regional, will host the Northeast Regional. Joining Bryant is fifth seed UMass Lowell (31-20), seventh seed Le Moyne (29-19), and eighth seed Southern New Hampshire (21-21). C.W. Post (42-10) and Adelphi (31-16) of the NYCAC Conference are seeded No. 1 and No. 2 respectively while fellow NYCAC member Queens (NY) (27-20) is the No. 6 seed. Caldwell College (36-15) is the lone representative from the CACC Conference… BRYANT: After winning their first ever regular season conference title, the Bulldogs made it two conference tournament championships in a row. They have tied a school record for most wins in a season with 29 and are on their way to their third consectucive NCAA tournament. Other records fell this weekend for Bryant as Janine Enos set a single season record for most wins in a season with 13 and tied the single season record for strikeouts in a season with 108. Amanda Wilbur has tied a single season record for homeruns in a season with 8 and is also the program's career leader with 14. Jordan Dargon surpassed her own record for most walks in a season with 27. Lindsay Connor has set a new single season record for stolen bases with 25 and is now the career leader with 45… UMASS LOWELL: UML set several club records this week, including wins in a season with 33 (previously 31) and games in a season with 53 (previously 51). Additionally, the team surpassed marks that go along with playing the most games, such as at bats in a season, innings pitched in a season and most put outs in a season... Several individuals broke school records this week as well: junior Kristen Mahoney set a new standard for career strikeouts with 377 (previously 367), freshman Cyrilla Suker surpassed the mark for strikeouts in a season with 158 (previously 140) and freshman Stacey Lajoie set a new benchmark for home runs in a season with her ninth (previously eight)...Sophomore Julie Brodie, junior Vikki Guido and Lajoie have played in all 53 games this campaign, a new record for games played in a season (previously 51 by three players in 2004)...River Hawk head coach Harry Sauter won his 300th career game against Southern Connecticut last Thursday...Mahoney and Lajoie became the first UML players to win major conference awards when they were named Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year respectively...UML's second-place finish at the Northeast-10 Tournament was its best ever. Previously the highest the team had finished was fourth… SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Penmen have qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in program history. SNHU is seeded eighth in the Northeast Regional and will face top-seeded LIU C.W. Post in its first-ever NCAA Tournament game. Senior Nikki Cote (Bristol, CT) enters the NCAA Tournament with 131 career hits and stands five hits shy of tying the program-record for career hits (136) held by Lynda Kent. Cote has already established the program-record for career games played (150). Cote was named second-team all-league and has become the first SNHU athlete to be named All NE-10 in two sports in the same year. She was a third-team all-league selection in soccer this past fall. Junior Ashley Smith (Franklin, NH) recorded her 200th career strikeout during the NE-10 Tournament. A second-team all-league pick, she has totaled 107 strikeouts this season and has become just the second player to record 100 or more strikeouts in a season. Head coach Deb Robitaille was named NE-10 Coach of the Year and becomes SNHU's first coach of a female sport to be voted the league's Coach of the Year… LE MOYNE: Junior Martha Senko's shutout streak was ended at three consecutive games. After shutting out Bentley, Franklin Pierce and Bryant to close out the regular season, Bryant scored in the second inning of the Northeast-10 tournament. Senko's scoreless streak ended at 26 and 1/3 innings… STONEHILL: Monday's season-ending sweep at Saint Rose gave Stonehill the sixth 20-win campaign in school history, as the Skyhawks' 21 overall victories and 14 Northeast-10 triumphs mark the program's highest totals in both categories in five seasons...Freshman C Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) set a Stonehill single-season mark for home runs with her seventh round tripper in the nightcap win over the Golden Knights, as she broke 2001 Northeast-10 Player of the Year Jennifer McBride's mark of six homers set during that spring...Sophomore C/DP Caitlin Flanagan (Cornwall, N.Y.) became the first Stonehill player since McBride to earn first team all-conference accolades, while the selection of Young and sophomore OF Jaime Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.) to the third team all-league squad gives the Skyhawks their highest all-conference total in over a decade…. SAINT MICHAEL'S: Junior Casey Brooks (Colchester, Vt.) finished the season with a program-record 52 hits, and tied the program record with nine doubles and four triples. Senior Meagan Newland (East Burke, Vt.) started in all 157 games over the past four seasons, playing in more contests than any other Purple Knight. Saint Michael's 18 wins are the third-most in program history…. BENTLEY: Freshman Alex Hitchcock (Abington, Mass.) led the 2006 Falcons in hitting, finishing with a .324 average. Her 44 hits were the second most by a Bentley player in the last decade.
