Northeast-10 Player of the Week

Emma Murphy, Le Moyne (So., 1B, East Syracuse, NY) - Went 5-for-9 (.556) with three home runs, five runs scored and six RBI as Le Moyne went 3-0 at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional. Was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.

Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week

Sarah Reed, Le Moyne (So., SP, DeWitt, NY) - Went 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 18 and 1/3 innings as Le Moyne won its second consecutive Northeast Regional. Posted two complete games and also hit .400 with one home run.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Ashley Bernstein, Southern New Hampshire (Fr., SP, Stoughton, MA) - Batted .333 (3-9) and also tossed a one-hit shutout during the NCAA Northeast Regional. Went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in a 9-0 win over Queens. Took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and allowed just one hit (5 K) in a 1-0 win over nationally-ranked Caldwell. Named to the All-Tournament Team.

Weekly Honor Roll:

Janine Enos, Bryant (So., SP, Wareham, MA) - Tossed a complete game in the first game of the NCAA tournament allowing no earned runs. Walked just one batter and struck out six.

Caitlin O'Neill, Le Moyne (Fr., 3B, Pittsford, NY) - Went 4-for-8 (.500) with two doubles and one RBI at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional. Was named to the all-tournament team.

Lindsay Spaziani, Le Moyne (Jr., OF, Horseheads, NY) - Hit. .364 (4-for-11), scored three runs and knocked in a run at the NCAA Northeast Regional. Was named to the all-tournament team.

Nikki Cote, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., OF, Bristol, RI) - Batted a team-high .545 (6-for-11) during the NCAA Northeast Regional. Went 3-for-4 (3B, RBI) in a 3-2 loss to C.W. Post. Had two hits and scored the lone run in a 1-0 win over Caldwell, and went 1-for-3 with a run in a 9-0 win over Queens. Named to the All-Tournament Team.

Ashley Smith, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., SP, Franklin, NH) - Started two games and allowed just two earned runs (1.14 ERA) with eight strikeouts during the NCAA Northeast Regional. Took a no-hitter into the sixth inning in a 3-2 loss to top-seeded C.W. Post (4 H, 4 K) and tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout (4 K) in a win over Queens.

Weekly Notes:

LE MOYNE: The Dolphins will meet South Region Champion Florida Southern on Thursday at noon in their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Championships. Le Moyne has won the Northeast regional in four of the last five seasons. Sarah Reed was the winning pitcher in all three games. She was the victor in all six Dolphins wins in the 2005 regional, thus over the past two seasons she is 9-0 in NCAA Northeast Regional games? SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Penmen closed out the most successful season in program history by going 2-1 at the NCAA Northeast Regional. SNHU made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and recorded its first-ever NCAA Tournament win following a 1-0 victory over 11th-ranked Caldwell Friday. The Penmen closed out the year with a program-record 23 wins. Senior Nikki Cote (Bristol, RI) closed out her career as the program's all-time leader in career games played (153) and career hits (137). She established the new record for career hits by going 1-for-3 in the final game of the year. The previous record (136) was set by Lynda Kent (1984-87). Cote also set a new record for hits in a season (47). Junior Felicia Brum (Braintree, MA) totaled 45 hits and 28 RBI this season and will enter her senior year ranked third in career hits (121) and fourth in career RBI (52) among SNHU's all-time leaders. Freshman Karissa Bettencourt (Norton, MA) closed out the year with a team-high .347 batting average and established a new program-record for hits in a season by a freshman (42). Junior Ashley Smith (Franklin, NH) closed out the year with 115 strikeouts and will enter her senior year ranked second in career strikeouts (210). Current assistant coach Mel Keeler owns the record for career strikeouts (300).
