Northeast-10 Player and Pitcher of the Week

Kristen Mahoney, UMass Lowell (Sr., SP, Burlington, MA) - Named the Most Valuable Player of the Northeast-10 Tournament in leading UMass Lowell to its first-ever championship. Batted .500 (6-12) and slugged .750 with five RBI and a home run. Also won all four games while maintaining an ERA of 1.27 while striking out 28 and allowing four earned runs, four walks and 18 hits. Batted 2-for-4 (RBI) in an 8-4 win over No. 4 Bryant, while striking out seven. Also struck out four and allowed one hit and one walk over the final three innings of a 4-2 win over No. 1 Le Moyne. Followed with a 2-for-3 effort with two RBI while scattering 11 strikeouts, four hits, two earned runs and a walk in a 5-2 win over Merrimack in the semifinal. Capped the Tournament going 1-for-2 with two RBI while yielding five hits, one walk and no earned runs with six strikeouts in the 3-2 win over Merrimack in the championship game.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Katelyn Elie, American International (Fr., C, Worcester, MA) - Batted .545 (6-11) with a home run and six runs batted in a 2-0-1 week. Drove in three runs apiece in wins over Stonehill and Merrimack and belted a home run against Stonehill.

Weekly Honor Roll:

Allison Ciummei, Bentley (Sr., 3B, Acton, MA) - Closed out her career with a .375 average (6-16) in her final six collegiate games. Scored once and had two RBI. Had three hits and two RBI in a 9-5 win over Franklin Pierce.

Elaine Matthews, Franklin Pierce (So., SS, Roslindale, MA) - Registered five hits, including two triples, two doubles, one run and three RBI. Was 3-for 6 in the doubleheader against Saint Anselm, with two doubles, a triple, and an RBI. Connected for two hits, including a triple, one run scored and two RBI in a split decision with Bentley.

Jackie Prybella, Franklin Pierce (So., 2B, Marshfield, MA) - Had seven hits, including two doubles, six runs scored and two RBI. Hit 3-for-4 with a double, three runs, and one RBI against Bentley. Hit 3-for-6 with a double and one run in a doubleheader against Saint Anselm.

Katie Hebert, UMass Lowell (Fr., 3B, Lowell, MA) - Batted .364 (4-11) with three RBI to help UMass Lowell capture its first-ever Northeast-10 Tournament Championship. Highlighted the tournament with a 2-for-3 effort with two RBI in the 4-2 victory over Le Moyne. Also went 1-for-4 with an RBI in an 8-4 win over Bryant in the opener.

Laurie Tanguay, UMass Lowell (Jr., DH, Lowell, MA) - Batted .400 (4-10) with three RBI, two doubles and one run as UMass Lowell won the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

Kiryl Shada, Pace (So., SP, Pleasant Prairie, WI) - Went 2-0, posting a 1.50 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched. Tossed a complete game five-hit shutout against Assumption, while fanning seven in a 1-0 win. In a 5-3 win over Saint Michael's, pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and three runs, while striking out six. Also hit the game-winning homerun in the top of the seventh.

Casey Brooks, Saint Michael's (Sr., 2B, Colchester, VT) - Batted .273 last week with three hits, including a three-run homer in the doubleheader sweep of Pace, and two runs.

Meg Currier, Saint Michael's (Sr., 1B, Greenfield, MA) - Recorded two hits, one being a three-run homerun in the doubleheader sweep of Pace, and added a run.

Meg O’Connor, Saint Michael's (So., OF, Georgetown, MA) - Posted four RBI last week with a homerun and a triple to go along with two runs.

Kristen Calahan, Saint Rose (Jr., SP, LaGrange, NY) – Went 3-0 with a 0.58 ERA last week. Opponents hit just .131 and fanned 30 batters in 24 innings with one shutout and two complete games. At Assumption, allowed two runs on five hits and struck out 13 batters in the 4-2 (10) victory. Finished with 12 strikeouts and scattered five hits in a 1-0 shutout victory versus Saint Michael's. Against Bentley, worked the first four innings with five strikeouts and one hit surrendered.

Amanda Morano, Saint Rose (Fr., 3B, Highland, NY) - Hit .375 (6-for-16, 5 RBI, 2 R, 2B) and slugged .438 during a 5-0 week. In a 10-inning victory at Assumption, went 1-for-3 with a run, double and RBI. In a doubleheader sweep of Bentley, was a combined 4-for-7 with three RBI and a run.

Nicole Arpin, Southern New Hampshire (So., OF, Cheshire, CT) - Batted .385 (5-13) in a 2-2 week. Hit safely in all four games and extended her hitting streak to 17 games. Went a combined 3-for-7 with two runs scored in losses to Merrimack and Bryant during the Northeast-10 Tournament.

Stephanie Folan, Stonehill (Jr., 3B, Glen Cove, NY) – Went 5-for-10 and drove in four runs in a season ending doubleheader against American International.


Weekly Notes:


SAINT MICHAEL’S: Senior pitcher Meggan Roberge reached the 800th strikeout plateau in the second game of a doubleheader split with Pace and with the 9-0 win in the nightcap the Purple Knights equaled their record for wins in a season, earning 26 victories this season.

SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Penmen closed out the year with a school-record 24 wins and a school-record 19 conference wins. Senior Felicia Brum (Braintree, MA) concluded her four-year career with a school-record 157 hits. Senior Tara Moriarty (Randolph, MA) closed out her career ranked fourth in career hits (125) and first in career homeruns (11). Senior Ashley Smith (Franklin, NH) closed out her career ranked second in career strikeouts (279).
