South Easton, Mass. – Le Moyne College’s Sarah Reed (DeWitt, N.Y.) has been named the 2008 Northeast-10 Softball Player of the Year as voted by the conference’s 15 coaches.

Reed helped lead Le Moyne to the team’s fifth Northeast-10 regular season title in six years. She currently leads the conference in a number of offensive categories including batting average (.476), slugging percentage (.780), runs (51), hits (80), runs batted in (53) and doubles (24). Reed is ranked 18th nationally among Division II batting average leaders. The former freshman of the year is also among the conference leaders in the circle with a 13-2 record and an earned run average of 2.10. In addition, Reed was named to the All Northeast-10 First-Team for the second time in her collegiate career (2006, 2008).

Bryant University senior pitcher Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) was selected the 2008 Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Year. Enos leads the conference in earned run average (1.22) and wins (15). She is ranked nationally among the Division II pitchers in ERA. Enos has held opposing hitters to a .191 average and has struck out 121 batters, both good for third best in the Northeast-10. A two-time All Northeast-10 selection (2nd Team –2006, 3rd Team –2007), Enos was selected to the All Northeast-10 First-Team for the first time in her collegiate career.

Assumption College’s Marissa Palumbo (Worcester, Mass.) received 2008 Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year honors. Palumbo ranks among the conference leaders in batting average (.410), on-base percentage (.469) and hits (48). She has driven in 15 runs and has scored 16 times this year. In addition, Palumbo was selected to the All Northeast-10 First-Team.

Bentley College’s Michele DeGregorio was voted the 2008 Northeast-10 Coach of the Year. After winning only two games all of last season, the Falcons, under the guidance of DeGregorio amassed 20 wins for the second time in program history. This marks the second time in her career that she has won the award. DeGregorio received coach of the year honors while coaching Merrimack College in 1993.

Sponsoring 23 championship sports and 15 full-time members, the Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any Division II conference.
