Le Moyne's Farrelly Named Daktronics East Region Player of the Year; Nine Northeast-10 Athletes Honored

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 13, 2009) – Senior Jennifer Farrelly
(Latham, N.Y.) of LeMoyne College and sophomore Diana Sansevera
(Manalapan, N.J.) of Georgian Court University headline this
year’s 2009 Daktronics East Softball All-Region Team, as
voted on by the region’s sports information directors.
LeMoyne, ranked first in the East poll, led the region with seven
overall selections.
Farrelly, who was also recognized as the Northeast-10 Player of
the Year, batted .381 in 51 games and drove in 44 runs on 53 hits
while coming around to score 29 times. Farrelly was equally
effective in the pitching circle, posting an 18-4 record with a
1.17 ERA in 161.0 innings pitched.
Sansevera, who was selected as the 2009 Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year, has a 26-8 record after
this weekend’s NCAA East Regional. In 241.1 innings pitched,
Sansevera held batters to a .191 average and allowed 53 earned runs
on 167 hits while striking out 330 batters.
Joining Farrelly on the First Team was Pitcher Breanne Gleason

(Hicksville, N.Y.), First Baseman Jackie Hannan (Sayville, N.Y.),

Courtney Cuevas (Fords, N.J.), Shortstop Christie Softy (Floral
Park, N.Y.), Catcher Nicole Scarillo (South Amboy, N.J.), Utility
Nicole Downs (Seymour, Conn.), Designated Player Jennifer Farrelly
(Latham, N.Y.), Outfielder Sarah Beck (Milton, N.Y.), Outfielder
Samantha Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) and Outfielder Mallory
Kirchner (South Amboy, N.J.).
The Second Team was comprised of Pitcher Sarah Kiser (Cooper City,
Fla.), Pitcher Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y.), Pitcher Nina
Cesare (Whitestone, N.Y.), First Baseman Kyrie Timbrook (Los Gatos,
Calif.) Second Basemen Gina Capardi (West Caldwell, N.J.) and
Rachel Ruch (Edison, N.J.), Third Basemen Lindsay Watson
(Georgetown, Del.) and Kelsey Ellis (Vancouver, British Columbia),
Shortstop Danielle Genovese (Livingston, N.J.), Catcher Emily Slack
(East Islip, N.Y.), Utility Angela DiBeneditto (Forest Hill, Md.),
Designated Player Amanda Cordrey (Millsboro, Del.), Outfielder
Melissa Medina (Levittown, N.Y.), Outfielder Kelcie Cashel (Lacona,

All First Team selections will appear on the Daktronics Softball
All-America ballot, which will be available for voting May 15.
