Northeast-10 Player of the Week

Dina Ferriero, Bentley (Sr., 1B, Tewksbury, Mass.) - Helped Bentley to a 2-1 start by hitting .545 (6-11) with three runs scored, three RBI and one double. Also handled 20 chances at first base without an error. Had two hits in a 3-2 win over St. Joseph’s (Ind.), three hits and three RBI in 13-4 win over Ohio Valley, and Bentley’s only hit against Grand Valley State.

Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week

Megan Lemire, Saint Anselm (Jr., SP, Worcester, Mass.) - Went 3-1 in five appearances last week, including a pair of eight-strikeout showings. Pitched 27.2 innings in five games, including four starts. Gave up just six earned runs for a 1.54 earned run average while striking out 38 batters and scattering 18 hits. Week was highlighted by a one-hit, eight-strikeout shutout of Marywood University.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Chanelle Morse, Bentley (Fr., DH, Lowville, N.Y.) - Hit .400 (4-10) in her first three collegiate games, including a 3-for-5, 3-RBI effort in a 13-4 victory over Ohio Valley.

Weekly Honor Roll:

Chelsea Durso, Assumption (So., RP, Salem, N.H.) - In the season opening games in Clermont, Fla., pitched in four innings striking out seven and not allowing any runs. Pitched three innings recorded five strikeouts and got the victory in the 6-5 win over Ohio Valley. Pitched one inning striking out two in the 1-0 loss to Grand Valley.

Amy Gordon, Assumption (So., 1B, Seekonk, Mass.) - In the season opening game in Clermont, Fla. against Ohio Valley, went 2-for-6 including the game winning hit and RBI in the 6-5 win.

Alex Hitchcock, Bentley (Sr., SS, Abiington, Mass.) - In a 2-1 week to start the season, hit .444 (4-9) with two walks and two stolen bases. Came up big against Ohio Valley in a 13-4 win, finishing with three hits (including a triple), four runs scored and three RBI.

Ashley Messina, Bentley (Jr., SP, Hanover, Mass.) - Was 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA in two complete game performances. Scattered nine hits in a 3-2 win over St. Joseph’s (Ind.) and yielded five hits in a 1-0 loss to Grand Valley State. Struck out six and didn’t issue a walk in 14 innings.

Tracy Chesebrough, Saint Rose (Sr., SP, Duanesburg, N.Y.) - Won her only decision last week by earning a 1-0 shutout victory against Lake Superior State. Fanned 15 batters and issued only one walk while scattering three hits over the distance.
