Northeast-10 Men’s Swimming Athlete of the
Week
Ricky Chidsey, Le Moyne (So., Liverpool, NY) - Won four individual
events and was a part of three relays as he was named the Most
Valuable Swimmer of the meet at the Northeast-10 Conference
Swimming & Diving Championship. Set two meet records and posted
four NCAA Division II ‘B’ cut times in four individual
wins. Won the 50-yard free in 21.39, set a meet record with a
1:53.18 in the 200-yard back, won the 100-yard free in 46.95 and
posted a meet record time of 51.32 in the 100-yard back. Was also
part of relay wins in the 200-yard medley, 200-yard free and
400-yard free.
Northeast-10 Women’s Swimming Athlete
Alison Lesher, Le Moyne (Jr., Sherrill, NY) - Won four individual
events and was named the Most
Valuable Swimmer of the meet at the Northeast-10 Conference
Swimming & Diving Championship. Set three championship records
and posted two ‘A’ cut times for the NCAA Division II
Championship. Won the 200-yard free with an NCAA Championship
‘B’ cut time of 1:55.40. The 100-yard butterfly time of
59.01 was a meet record and a ‘B’ cut time. In the
500-yard free, set a championship record and posted an
‘A’ cut time of 5:01.05. Ironically, she posted a new
standard in the preliminary round of the 200-yard butterfly. Swam a
meet-record 2:05.69 and ‘A’ cut time of 2:05.69 in the
preliminaries before winning the event in the finals with a time of
2:10.69.
Northeast-10 Men’s Diving Athlete of the Week
Brandon Birchak, Saint Rose (Jr., Latham, NY) - Swept the one
and three-meter diving competitions at the Northeast-10
Championships. Was named the meet's Most Valuable Diver. Captured
the one-meter board with a record 517.85 points and took the
three-meter event with 573.40 points.
Northeast-10 Women’s Diving Athlete of the Week
Ali Bronson, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Torrington, CT)- Was named
the meet’s Most Valuable Diver at the Northeast-10
Championships. Finished the one meter event with 375.05 points and
finished the three meter event with 398.50 points.
Northeast-10 Men’s Freshman of the Week
Samuel Laden, Bentley (Fr., Cheshire, CT) - Earned a gold medal in
the 100-yard breaststroke at the Northeast-10 championships, with a
time of 1:01.94, and helped Bentley to a first-place finish in the
400 –yard medley relay (3:38.77). Also collected two bronze
medals, 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.87) and 200-yard medley relay
(1:39.82). In his other races, was sixth in 200-yard IM (2:08.20)
and 14th in 50-yard free (23.72).
Northeast-10 Women’s Freshman of the
Week
Katie Meleg, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Danbury, CT) - Won two
individual events and was a member of three winning relays, all for
Northeast-10 meet records. Won the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.65)
and the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.76) and was a member of relay
teams in the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.81), the 400-yard medley
relay (4:02.36) and the 500-yard freestyle relay (3:37.40).
Weekly Honor Roll:
Alexandra Bergantz, Bentley (Fr., Trumbull, CT) - At the
Northeast-10 Championships, was second in the three-meter diving
(341.35) and fourth in the one-meter diving (275.45).
Arden Brust, Bentley (Jr., Newark, NY) - Earned a medal in all
seven events swam at the Northeast-10 Championships with two
silvers and five bronze. Finished second in both the 200-yard
individual medley (2:16.79) and 100-yard backstroke (1:01.81), and
third in the 200-yard free (1:59.50) and 200-yard back (2:12.99).
Also participated on three relays that finished third.
Nicole Murphy, Le Moyne (Fr., Camillus, NY) - Earned two individual
wins for Le Moyne at the championship. Topped the 200-yard
breaststroke in a championship-record time of 2:30.06 and won the
200-yard IM in 2:15.59.
Meaghan Morley, Pace (Jr., Delhi, NY) - At the Northeast-10
Championships, finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke and
seventh in the 200-yard backstroke.
Trevor Paugh, Pace (So., Wantage, NJ) - At the Northeast-10
Championships, finished seventh in the 200-yard yard breaststroke
and the 200-yard IM.
Sean Molloy, Saint Rose (So., LaGrange, NY) - Took top honors in
the 500-yard freestyle at the Northeast-10 Championships with a
winning time of 4:58.03. Also took third in the 200-free (1:49.33)
and the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.86).
Tierney Carey, Saint Michael's (So., Newtown, CT) - Had Saint
Michael's best finish at the Northeast-10 Championships, a
third-place showing in the women's one-meter dive (281.10
points).
Laura Mann, Saint Michael's (Sr., Attleboro, MA) - Had five
top-seven finishes at the Northeast-10 Championships. Placed
seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.87) and the 200-yard
breaststroke (2:41.22), and helped the team finish sixth in the
200- and 400-yard freestyle relays, and seventh in the 200-yard
medley relay.
Rosalie Palmer, Saint Rose (Fr., Dallas, TX) - Recorded the top
individual finishes for the Saint Rose women in the 200-yard
individual medley and 200-yard backstroke at the Northeast-10
Championships. Took fourth in the 200-yard IM with a time of
2:20.94 and came in fifth in the 200-yard backstroke, touching in
2:15.52. Also swam the third leg of the 200-yard free relay team
that took fourth with a time of 1:46.53.
Amy Browning, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Fort Worth, TX) - Helped
lead Southern Connecticut to another team title at the Northeast-10
swimming championships. Won the 100-yard freestyle (54.63) and was
a member of record setting rely teams in the 800-yard freestyle
relay (7:14.52) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:02.36).
Jason Flores, Southern Connecticut (So., New Haven, CT) - At the
Northeast-10 championships, helped Southern Connecticut defend its
team title by placing second in both diving events. Scored 390.15
points in the one-meter competition and 410.80 points on the
three-meter board.
Cody Hall, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Parker, CO) - Won two
individual events with meet records and was a member of two
record-setting relays at the Northeast-10 championships, helping
Southern to a team championship. Won the 1,650-yard freestyle
(17:51.25) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:38.48). Also a
member of the record setting teams in the 800-yard freestyle relay
(7:54.52) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:02.36).
Andrew May, Southern Connecticut (So., Manteca, CA) - Won three
individual events and was a member of a winning relay as Southern
Connecticut defended its title in the Northeast-10 swimming
championships. Won the 400-yard individual medley (4:14.88), the
200-yard breaststroke (2:12.26) and the 200-yard IM (1:58.58) and
was a member of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay (7:19.05).
Dan Vitagliano, Southern Connecticut (Jr., New Haven, CT) - Won
both butterfly events and was a member of the winning 200-yard
freestyle relay (1:42.45). Won the 100-yard butterfly in 51.94
seconds and the 200-yard butterfly in 1:58.47.
