2009 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving All-America Honors

 

Southern Connecticut State University's Cody Hall highlights a list of eight Northeast-10 student-athletes that earned NCAA Division II All-America Honors at the 2009 NCAA Championships.

Among those that earned All-America accoldes are Le Moyne College's Ricky Chidsey and Katie O'Donnell, the College of Saint Rose's Ryan Brauer and Vadim Yafayev and Southern Connecticut's Hall, Miguel Nesrala, Greg Simoneau and Emily Sundel.


Men's Swimming & Diving

Ryan Brauer - Saint Rose -
Took home an eighth place finish to earn First-Team All-America honors in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.44.  Also received Honorable Mention All-America in the 400 IM Relay with an 11th place showing (3:59.02).

Ricky Chidsey - Le Moyne -
Earned First Team All-America honors in the 200-yard backstroke after finishing eighth with a time of 1:48.82.  Also earned Honorable Mention All-America in th 100-yard backstroke with a 12th place finish in 50.34.

Miguel Nesrala - Southern Connecticut - Took home a ninth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:38.92.  Earned Honorable Mention All-America honors.

Greg Simoneau - Southern Connecticut - Finished sixth overall in the three-meter diving event after compiling 401.45 points and eighth in the one-meter diving event (370.00).  Earned First-Team All America Honors in both events.

Vadim Yafayev - Saint Rose - Finished behind teammate Ryan Brauer in the 400-yard IM in a time of 4:00.98 for a 13th place showing to earn Honorable Mention All-America accolades.

Women's Swimming & Diving

Cody Hall - Southern Connecticut - Took home a fourth place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle event to earn First-Team All-America Honors.  Finished the event with a time of 17:11.75.  Also earned First-Team All-America Honors in the 1000-yard freestyle and the 400-yard IM.  Finished in times of 10:17.72 and 4:28.02 respectively.

Katie O'Donnell - Le Moyne - Received Honorable Mention All-America Honors in two events.  Finished 11th overall in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.94 and finished 16th in the 200-yard IM in 2:07.99.

Emily Sundel - Southern Connecticut - Earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades in two events.  Finished 15th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.68 and was 14th in the 1000-yard freestyle event and finished with a time of 10:18.93.
